In a bid to ameliorate the plight of vulnerable persons in Delta State, the wife of the President of the country, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has provided financial assistance to 250 aged citizens
Presenting the gesture, during the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Social Investment Support Program at the government house in Asaba she said the support of two hundred and fifty elderly citizens in Delta State with the sum of two hundred thousand naira each the program was designed to alleviate the suffering of elderly citizens of age sixty five and above adding that it was being carried out across the thirty six states of the federation.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu who was represented by the wife of the state Governor and Founder of You Matter Charity Foundation, Dearconess Tobore Oborevwori said in putting more smiles on the faces of the elderly during the festive season, the governing Board of Renewed Hope Initiative felt it right to increase the grant to two hundred thousand naira as against the initial one hundred thousand naira beneficiaries got last year.
The wife of the state Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori represented by the wife of the Deputy governor’s wife, Lady Catherine Onyeme, commended the First Lady of Nigeria for the kind gesture, saying the theme of the program, Total Wellness: Happy, Healthy and prosperous Lifestyle was apt considering the present state of the economy.
The State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in his usual magnanimity supported the beneficiaries of the Senator Tinubu’s initiative with two hundred and fifty bags of 50kg rice.
The program which has beneficiaries from across the state’s twenty five local government areas, featured health talk, medical check-up, treatment as well as dispensation of drugs.
Highlight of the program was the distribution of the two hundred thousand naira cash and 50KG bag of rice to each beneficiary.
Some of the beneficiaries could not hide their joy as they expressed satisfaction for the gesture and prayed God to bless the country and Delta State.
