Barely five months after the last pilgrimage exercise the Delta State government is set to sponsor another set of Pilgrims to the Holy land.
Indications are high that the state government has concluded plans to sponsor and airlift no fewer than 368 Pilgrims to the holy lands of Israel and Jordan.
At a screening exercise for the intending Pilgrims conducted yesterday in Asaba, the state capital, the Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Johnbull Edema, he state that the state government continuous sponsorship of pilgrimage in the state is an indication of the state governor’s acknowledgment of the impact of the exercise to both the commitment and dedication to the service.
While commending the state governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa for his persisting in the exercise, Edema enjoined the intending pilgrims to reciprocated the state government’s gesture by remaining good ambassador of the state and country.
Underscoring the importation of the exercise to the state, Edema particularly enjoined the intending Pilgrims to ensure that while at the Holy land they should take out time to pray for the state government and country particularly the coming election.
The Chairman of the Board, Archibishop Cyril Odutemu, commended the state government for the continuous sponsorship of Pilgrim to the Holy land, and the corporation of Pilgrims in the state, adding that there had not been any record of abscondment.
Odutemu while crediting the success achievement since his administration to God and the Pilgrims whom he said listens to instructions and put them to practice, said if it were possible he would prefer the state to sponsor more Pilgirms because they are actually committed.
He charged them to abstain from whatever would bring stain to the integrity of the state as ambassadors of the state, nation and the Church of God.
On his part the Special Adviser to the state governor and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Snr Apostle Sylvanus Okorote charged them to endeavor to give the right details so as not to be disqualified in the exercise.
Okorote said they should understand that they were going on a spiritual retreat , hence they should remember the state governor in their prayer as he embarks of his political campaign.
According to the Executive Secretary, Apostle Samuel Okoh, the state government in her magnanimity towards ensuring that God reigns in the state has approved the exercise for the Pilgrims.
Okoh urged the intending Pilgrims to positively represent the state and the country as they journey to the Holy lands.
