The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of Jama’atu Nasrul Islam (JNI), Dr. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has said the council would pursue justice for those injured in the unintentional drone attack in Kaduna State.
The Sultan made this known during the annual JNI Central Council Conference in Minna, Niger State
Speaking at the conference which coincided with a second apology from the Federal Government over the incident, he said, as resolute Muslims, they accept that Allah intended for such things to occur. “We will consider our options for helping those impacted and pursue legal action to ensure that justice is served”.
“We want justice to be served to everyone, but we are not searching for anyone in particular. We were all saddened by what transpired as Muslims,” he remarked.
The Minister for Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, while expressing President Bola Tinubu’s apology and sympathy over the ugly incident, said that the president had approved the commencement of the FULAKO Initiative.
According to Idris, the Initiative which was the president’s humanitarian response to the effects of banditry in communities, would facilitate the building of houses, clinics, schools and veterinary hospital as part of a non-kinetic response to problems of banditry and kidnapping in the North.
He added that it would be implemented in Katsina, Benue, Kaduna, Zamfara, Niger and Kebbi.
Those who spoke at the conference were the governor of Niger state, Umaru Bago who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Yakubu Garba and the JNI Chairman in the state, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar
