Delta State Commissioner Of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi psc, has accounted the achievement of the state command in fighting crime.
Abaniwonda disclosed this while briefing Journalists on his scorecard since his assumption of duty as the 22nd Commissioner in the state, at the police Headquarter in Asaba.
Highlighting his achievements, he said the Command have engaged suspected kidnappers, recovers one AK-47 rifle, two pump action guns, ammunition and cartridges; arrest of suspected armed robbers. recovery of one beretta pistol, one double barrel gun, one locally made cut-to-size gun; arrest of a murder suspect/ritualist; arrest of two suspected robbers; arrest of a murder suspect; arrest of a rape suspect; arrest of a defilement suspect; arrest of a defilement suspect and the arrest of suspects who stole one luxurious bus belonging to young shall grow.
He added that a total of 48 kidnapped victims had been rescued, 27 vehicles recovered and 678 suspects arrested under his watch.
All of these rescue operation, he said took place at different locations across the state.
He said despite the challenges, the police have been able to restore peace to the state with the support of other security agencies, stakeholders and the good people of the state.
The Commissioner of Police called on parents to look out for their male children as much as they do to their female children, adding that with the males and mostly youths occupying 85 percent of suspects arrested within the period under review, it was obvious that parenting the male child was in decline.
Abaniwanda advised them to continue to talk to their children to shun all forms of cult-related activities, drug abuse, and other criminal vices.
He said the ban on tinted vehicles and the use of fireworks in the state was still in force to help checkmate the activities of criminal elements who may want to take advantage of it.
While advising Deltans to be law-abiding, he urged them to abide by the directives as anyone found wanting will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
