Delta State Commissioner of Youth Development, Hon. Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac has called on youths in the state to key into the ongoing recruitment of the state youth parliament.
Agbateyiniro gave the call during a meeting with executives of the first assembly at his office in Asaba, the state capital.
While outlining the processes leading the the proclamation of the second assembly, he urged eligible youths in the state to apply.
The Commissioner said the process would be transparent and fair, adding that the process of recruitment would be online as forms would be available online for interested persons to pick up and submit, adding that there would be a proficiency text across the Senatorial District in the state.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Ms Ngozi Mogbolu said the state youth parliament was an initiative of the federal ministry of Youth Development, meant to foster involvement of Youth in governance, enable them to have their say and participate in the process of governance.
Mogbolu added that the ministry had organised workshops on legislative process for them.
She said the parlimentarians present at the meeting were the first state youth parliament and were in the process of transition.
Highlighting their achievements, the Deputy Speaker, Obuseli Gloria Obiageli said they have passed resolutions on some pertinent issues affecting youths in the state, carried out constituency projects in their various constituencies and also had a successful joint sitting with the Edo state youth parliament.
Obuseli said she was optimistic that the second assembly would be able to build on thier achievements.
