The Honorable Commissioner for Environment, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu, has assured resident of Amachai , Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area Of Delta State of Government and other Agencies Intervention to control the gully erosion in their community.


Asiuwhu gave the assurance when he visited the gully erosion site situated around Igwuo gwo stream in Amachai, Okpanam.


He said issues as that were of paramount concern to the state governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa and he would ensure that it was controlled.


The Commissioner, promised to draw the attention of the Commissioners of Works, Urban and Highway Renewal and other intervention agencies, adding that with the effort of NEWMAP in controlling more dangerous erosion sites in the state, theirs would be a work over.


He commended the Association of Landlords in the community for their peaceful disposition in ensuring that the menace was salvaged, adding that their plea would be responded to.


Earlier, the Chairman of Amachai community, Comrade Emmanuel Onwudinjo Agala, called on the state government to come to their aid as the gully had become a threat to lives and properties of residents of the community.


Agala said that the gully site which links the road to Akwukwu Igbo had gone so bad that if not given urgent attention would cause much destruction and danger to lives of the people.


On his part, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media, Mr Fidelis Egugbo said he was optimistic of positive result from the Governor, whom he described as a proactive leader.
