One of the illustrious journalists of all times in the history of journalism practice in Nigeria, Ray Ekpu said, “When you give honour to whom honour is not due, you take away the incentive to work honestly for honour”.

The above quote contradicts a situation where honour is not deserved. However, in the case of ASP Robinson Julius, Head of the CP Olufemi Abaniwonda’s Special Assignment Team, the award presented to him today by a Selected Team of Professional Newsmen during the Eye-On-Security symposium, being the second edition of the Democracy Day lecture on Security was well deserved.

Why is this very award highly important and well deserving? This is because the man that is being celebrated, ASP Robinson Julius has been in the news since January when he was saddled with the responsibility of going after criminal herders in the guise of kidnappers and armed robbers.

Since the assignment within the period under review, he and his team had neutralized several kidnappers and recovered more than 16 AK-47 rifles.

It may interest you to know that Robinson’s team was the same that killed the four kidnappers that masterminded the kidnap of an American based medical personnel, Dr. Michael Igwebuike Nwaesei who was in Issele-Uku to execute his organisation’s (IANA) medical mandate for the people of Issele-Uku.

Interestingly too, it was this same team that trailed and neutralized the kidnap gang that abducted and killed a female realtor, Esther Ojoh at Ibusa, near the Admiralty University.

The above exploits and accomplishments are no less than the numerous arrests his team had recorded in a bid to sanitize Delta with a view to making it safe and free of crimes and criminality.

Meanwhile, observers at the media award have adjudged the award to ASP Robinson Julius as not only a special gift on Democracy Day, but a well deserved honour to keep him motivated in serving his motherland and making sacrifices towards the resilient effort of security agencies in curbing insecurity.
