The Nigerian Senate has passed the Federal University of Agriculture Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which seeks to amend the Federal Universities of Agriculture Act, Cap F22, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, to establish the Federal University of Agriculture, Ute-Okpu, Delta State.

The bill arrived the Senate for concurrence and was passed on Thursday with all provisions retained by the Committee of the Whole.

This development is credited to the efforts of Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District.

The new university is expected to serve as a centre for agricultural research and capacity development in the region.

Each of the bills is currently at a different stage of legislative consideration.
