Months after her departure to eternal glory, the Committee of friends and family of the late Omu of Okpanam, Her Royal Majesty, Obi Martha Dunkwu has celebrated her 69th posthumous Birthday anniversary.
Speaking during the low celebration on the Saturday, October 19, 2024 at her palace in Okpanam, the son of the late Omu, Dr Afamefuna Dunkwu said the event was in honour of his mother, who lived an impactful life.
He promised to keep alive the legacy of Omu Dunkwu and ensure that his mother’s Foundation for the girl child lives on.
Dr Dunkwu said the posthumous birthday party was in commemoration of her love, for the people of Anioma,
Speaking, her media aide, Comrade Patrick Ochei said the event was well deserved, adding that as Nneoha “Mothers without borders” she was a woman whose enviable appearance at any gathering spoke volume of her personality.
According to Comrade Ochei, “she lived her life later in transcends generation, and left a legacy that cannot be forgotten, as the event will be a continuous one, in memory of her”.
He said her propagation of the Anioma was what birth the annual memorial lecture, adding that before her surgeon to mother earth, Omu had registered two Non Governmental Organisation, to promote the girl child, and had said no girl in Anioma should be left behind.
Ochie said Omu Dunkwu had trans versed professional boundaries while on earth.
Ochei said the annual lecture was dependant on those whom she had impacted so much on while on earth, hence the need for them to drive the vision.
Highlight of the event was the cutting of cake by those in attendance.
