The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) has said Delta Special Economic Zone is poised to revolutionize the economic landscape of Delta State, with significant investments and infrastructural development underway.
According to Hauwa Audu Tarfa, Deputy Director Zones, the zone’s strategic location and resources make it an attractive destination for investors and it will significantly improve the lives of Nigerians and the country’s GDP when fully operational.
This recognition came after NEPZA officials inspected the Kwale and Koko Free Trade Zones in Delta State.While expressing satisfaction with efforts of Delta Special Economic Zone leadership, she said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has demonstrated the political will of his administration to strengthen the economic base of the state.
The MD/CEO of Delta Special Economic Zone, Pastor Godwin Akpovie expressed delight at the NEPZA team’s visit, reiterating the zone’s commitment to driving economic transformation.
He opined that Kwale Free Trade Zone has significant gas and oil deposits while the Koko Free Trade Zone’s proximity to the Atlantic Ocean presents opportunities for optimizing port operations and increasing cargo capacity, making it a competitive option for international trade.
The Chief Executive Officer commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration for demonstrating unwavering commitment to repositioning Delta State as a hub for business, infrastructure, and innovation through the MORE Agenda.
On his part, Brig. Gen. Mike Ndubisi (Rtd), Chairman of the Delta Special Economic Zone Board said the Zone will further
strengthen the State’s position as a trade hub by ensuring seamless import and export operations, boosting the country’s participation in global value chains.
Dr. Peter Ese Oriavwote, a member of the Board of Directors, emphasized the crucial role of the Delta Special Economic Zone in fostering trade, manufacturing, and industrialization. He added that the zone is a catalyst for harnessing the state’s immense potential. The Director of Zones, Emmanuel Ofunne, also commended Pastor Akpovie’s leadership and Governor Oborevwori’s administration for creating an investment-friendly climate in Delta State.
