The Commissioner for Delta State Directorate of Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, has said that there was no going back on the sanctions of defaulters of tricycle profiling.


The Commissioner who was represented by his functioning Permanent Secretary, Engr. Vincent Omoniyi made this known while speaking with journalists during the sensitisation exercise in some of the cities in the state.


He said disciplinary actions would be taken on them as no geniue riders would kick against it.
He commended Council Chairmen for keying into the vision of government in ensuring that the Deltans do not fall prey to kidnappers and armed robbers.
According to the Commissioner, the Directorate is working in collaboration with the law enforcement agency in the state, adding that once the days of grace is over, actions will be implemented on defaulters.


The Tricycle riders in Warri, Ughelli, Agbarho, Oleh environs of Delta State who violently kicked against the profiling directive said they were not ready to comply with the directives.
Some of the protesting riders lamented that the high cost of living, high cost of hire purchase of the tricycle, late information dissemination as the year was almost close to an end would not allow them adhere to the instructions.


Others frowned at the collection of the apron as they were private riders who had borrowed money to start up their transport businesses.
In another development riders in Ozoro welcomed the initiative and promise to key into the policy.

Kingsley Itimi and other staff of the Directorate
