Delta State would in the year, host the first ever International Theatre and Arts Festival.
According to a press statement signed by the Festival Director, Thespian Alex Akpuh and issued to our reporter in Asaba, the state capital, the grand event will take place in Asaba on August 14 to 18, 2024.
It stated that the maiden edition of Delta International Theatre and Arts Festival, (DITAFEST), with the theme, “Theatre and Arts: Catalysts for a Sustainable Creative Economy” will feature play performances, dance drama, advocacy street carnival, art exhibitions, lectures, workshops amongst others.
The 4 – day event is meant to put the state on the global calendar of international theatre and arts festivals, making the state a creative hub and artistic destination for burgeoning creative market across the globe.
The event, it also stated shall also discover and promote budding artists, create jobs and provide opportunities for hundreds of artists and art lovers across Nigeria and diaspora to visit Delta State.
