The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), yesterday, continued its environmental cleanup exercise at the Koka Roundabout, with the Head of Environment of the Agency, Mr Isaac Nwosu, leading his team to intensify the evacuation of sand, debris, and indiscriminately dumped waste from the road median and surrounding areas.
The exercise is a continuation of the Agency’s ongoing intervention aimed at restoring cleanliness, improving visibility, and ensuring safer movement for motorists and pedestrians along the busy gateway into the capital city.
Mr Nwosu, who supervised the operation alongside members of the Environment Unit, said the sustained cleanup became necessary due to the heavy accumulation of sand and refuse along the median, which had begun to affect the aesthetic appeal and safety of the road.
He noted that the Environment Unit remains committed to carrying out its mandate of maintaining environmental sanitation across critical locations within the capital territory.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Agency, Mr Patrick Ukah, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to keeping Asaba clean, orderly, and befitting of its status as a state capital.
Mr Ukah commended the Environment Unit for its dedication and consistency, noting that the continued intervention at Koka Roundabout reflects the Agency’s proactive approach to environmental management and urban renewal.
He urged residents and road users to support government efforts by refraining from indiscriminate dumping of waste and by embracing responsible environmental practices.
The cleanup exercise is expected to continue until the entire Koka Roundabout corridor is fully cleared and restored.
