Delta state Commissioner for Environment Mr. Ejiro Jamani has warned residence of the state to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse on prohibited areas. Jamani gave the warning during his  inspection of blocked canals at the Warri garage in Warri South Local Government Area of the state and other parts of the state during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, in Warri.

He said the waste dumped at the canals would lead to blockage of the drainage system and would not allow easy flow of water from the pipes.

The Commissioner who was accompanied by the Director of Sanitation, Mrs Fransica Atigan and other Warri Environment staff, called on Deltans to endeavor to keep their environment clean so as to achieve a more cleaner state.

Highlight of the exercise was a visit to Sapele Local government, Enerhen junction, Igbudu Market, From Warri south Secretariat to lgbudu market, Enerhen junction, Airport road, Ugbangwe market and  Deco road to Estate roadabout.

In another development, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Mrs Minnie Oseji  charged the Aniocha North Local Government Council Chairman to emulate the healthy environment and sanitation observed by the Aniocha South local government council.

Oseji while expressing displeasure over the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the local government area, advised the residence of the local government to maintain good hygiene so as to stay healthy.

Frowning at the  of illegal dumping of  debris close to a school in the local government, the Permanent  Secretary, said it was not meant to be in residential areas, hence they should desist from disposing dirts in prohibited areas.

She said the ministry would continue to monitor environmental activities of the local governments across the state and give them all the necessary support in ensuring that they help achieve a cleaner Delta State

Speaking the Head of Environment Department in the local government, Mr Ralph Onwuegbuzie said efforts has been made to sensitive the people on the need to participate in the exercise.

Onwuegbuzie urged the people of Aniocha North to imbibe the culture of observing good sanitation .
