Lawmakers in the eight assembly of the Oshimili South Local Government, have been charged to drive development to their constituencies
The Chairman of the Council Hon Obi Kelvin Ezenyili gave the charge during the swearing in ceremony of the law at the council.
He urged them to understand the purpose for which they were elected and ensure that they represent the interests the council.
He advised them not to see themselves higher than those who choose them to serve, adding that it is expected of them to operate an open door policy by hearing the yearnings of their people.
While describing the LG as one that stands out from other local government, Ezenyili urged the councilors to work as a team and not engage in gossip or any issue that would lead to rancour.
The new Leader of the eight assembly, Hon Michael Okonji, assured the Party faithful of effective representation from the lawmakers, adding that with his experience in his first tenure, he will ensure that there was no rancour amongst them.
Okonji promised that they would work in synergy with the Council Chairman so as to help achieve a better Oshimili South.
Congratulating the Councillors, one of the Party leaders, Ogbueshi Chibuzor Uwajie, advised them not to go astray in the discharge of their legislative duties but always consult the Chairman for any guidance.
He reiterated the need for them to always operate an open door policy with the public.
On her part, the state Party Woman Leader, Mrs Kanwulia Omoko advised them to always respect the Chairman and love themselves so as to be able to achieve their visions as lawmakers.
Ogbueshi Chike Ifesiokwu admonished them to show professionalism in all they do, adding that they should work in synergy with the Chairman so as to attract more development in Oshimili South.
The event had the LG Party Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji; the Council Vice Chairman, Mrs Chinye Uso Hobobo; Hon. Taju Isichei, the Council Head of Personnel Management, Mrs Idao Omoghene Chidinma amongst others in attendance.


In another development, the Clerk of the legislative arm, Mr Okwuwe Macaulay called for the nomination of the Leader of the House and five other principal officers.
The House nominated Hon. Michael Okonji as the Leader to return a second term.
The event which took place at the Chamber of the legislative House witnessed the Leader’s acceptance speech and presence of the 20 Councillors present at the inaugural ceremony.
