Delta State Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko (Mni), has described the state as one with a crop of classical model in women who have demonstrated excellence in thier chosen career.
Bayoko who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources, Dr. Charles Diai made this known during the one day workshop on work life balance and effective service delivery for female civil servants held in Asaba, the state capital.
He said these women in some cases have done well than their male counterpart in the workplace.
While appreciating the female who go out of the traditional role of women in the society to the present modern day women and who in spite of the cultural inheritance have metamorphosed into a super woman, heroine, combining domestic and career.
He said he was optimistic that the workshop which was apt at a time when the economy of the country is challenging, would bring out the best in them.
Speaking the Chairperson, Forum of Female Permanent Secretaries in the state, Dr. Mrs Mininim Oseji said there was need for training and retraining of civil servant in the state so as to meet the changes as well as challenges of contemporary times.
She said with the ratio of female more than that of the male in the civil service and reverse when it comes to leadership, there was need to bridge the gap, hence the workshop.
Dr. Mrs Oseji said the forum which was established years ago has helped to bond closely and address matters of common concern and interest.
Highlighting their achievements, she said the forum has raised funds to support a number of charitable activities in the state.
She revealed that the Oseji Foundation for Transparency and Community Development had earlier organised a retreat for serving and retired female Permanent Secretaries.
She added that they had also organized a send forth party for two retired Permanent Secretaries.
Speaking on the objectives of the workshop, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Renewal, Mrs Charity Ehimen said it was to stir up the inner potentials in women to soar and to ensure that they are result oriented.
According to Ehimen, the forum being a platform set up to mentor upcoming female civil servants, seeks to put ideas together to advance thier individual career and bridge the gap.
Highlight of the workshop was quiz section, lectures on Time management strategies for effective service delivery by Dr. Mrs. Awoke Ejedimu; Record keeping and management in the Civil service by Dr. Mrs Antonia Nwabueze and Productivity Enhancement in the Civil Service by Dr. Mrs Mininim Oseji.
The Four First Runner Ups of the quiz competition got cash gifts of N20,000 to second winner and 3rd Prize of N10,000 equally. The winners were N. P. Chukwurah of Ministry of Science and Technology, Jane Emonena of Ministry of Water Resources, Nwaokocha Favour of Bureau for Special Duties and Architect Blessing Uwalloh of Ministry of Housing.
Present at the event were present, namely: Dr. (Mrs.) Oseji, Mrs. Ehimen, Dr. (Mrs.) Ejedimu, Mrs. Ekpenisi, Mrs. Ubogu, Pharm. (Mrs.) Ndobu, Mrs. Emeni and Ngozi Mogbolu, amongst others.
