The federal government has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring the safety of its citizens living outside the country.
Reacting towards reports of Nigerians being subjected to various harassments by Libyan authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens in Libya and that Nigerians are safe in Libya.
This was following the recent ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in favour of Nigeria by awarding the Nigerian senior men’s football team, Super Eagles some points, and had fined Libya for alleged mistreatment of the Nigerian team during a Nations Cup qualifying Match.
While refuting the reports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Nigerians in Libya were going about their daily activities and devoid of any form of harassment by Libyan authorities.
