The Chairman of Camp 74 Fish Association, Mr Emeka Ogwu has called for rescue from the Delta State government
Ogwu made the call shortly after the recent flood that took place at the Anwai river.
He pleaded that government come to the rescue of fish farmers as they had lost their fishes to the flood.
According to him the volume of the water, destroyed the fish farm massively and broke their ponds, adding that the could not identify their ponds and the river as it washed away into the flood.
The Chairman said the effect of the loss has made 1000 fish farmers in the farm hopeless, hence the need for government support.
Speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the farm, Mr Isaac Onowita commended governor who had earlier directed the Ministry of Environment to dredge the river.
Onowita said the whole of phase two to phase three where bulk of the farming processes takes place have been affected by the flood.
He said about 65 percent of the farm has been swept off by the flood hence the need for government intervention so that they can remain in business.
Expressing pains, he said it was unfortunate that opportunist took advantage of their plight to catch and sell thier fishes.
