The Fostering Hopes Foundation has engaged Oshimili South Local Government as a formidable partner in the forthcoming Walkathon, billed to hold on April 5, 2025.
The understanding was reached when the Foundation through the Founder/Coordinator, Nkechi Ukome led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Council Chairman, Hon. Chief Ezenyili Kelvin Obi Ph.D, at his office in Asaba.
The Founder in her address was very specific in asking the Chairman who will be the host in Asaba at the end of the walk, to support in necessary areas like branding to reflect the partnership.
She explained the vision and focus of the Foundation and how six low income earning families at the risk of separation had been supported with funds for business, including putting 19 children from the same families on scholarship.
According to her, “We have observed the performance of the Chairman since assuming office and we feel the Council under him would make a good host for the Walkathon Project, which would commence from Agbor to Asaba.
“The Walkathon is an ambitious task, but we have chosen to do the walk on behalf of those who have to. We are using the walk which is about 61 kilometres to create awareness for the Foundation and also raise funds for much of the empowerment tasks ahead”, Ukome said.
In his response, the Chairman, Hon. Ezenyili Kelvin Obi commended the Founder of the Fostering Hopes Foundation for the effort in empowering families even in this critical economic time.
He pledged to support in making the Walkathon Project a reality, affirming that the goal of the Council under him is always to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of every inhabitant of Oshimili South Local Government Area, including events taking place within the Council territory.
With the Chairman to receive the Foundation’s delegation were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Chinwe Hobobo Uso, the Secretary to the Local Government, Chief Obiora Enebeli, the Head of Personnel Management, Supervisory Councillors and others.
