The Director General of Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Devt Agency, WUEDA, Hon. Prince Godwin Ejinyere on Thursday gave mouth-watering cash gifts of twenty thousand naira each to hundreds of PDP supporters in Orerokpe Ward One for voting the PDP and its candidates in the 2023 general elections. The gesture was in fullfillment of the promises made by Godwin Ejinyere Political Train while campaigning for the election of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as Governor of Delta State.
The beneficiaries of the Godwin Ejinyere Political Train Empowerment Scheme were the non-indigenes including three persons each from Igbo, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Calabar/Akwa Ibom, Edo, Isoko, Kogi, Yoruba and Hausa ethnic groups; market women, as well as the physically challenged in Orerokpe Ward One, who worked for the actualization of Sheriff Oborevwori Mandate.
Describing the non indigenes, physically challenged and the market women as his brothers and sisters, Okakuro Ejinyere who is also the Duke of Orerokpe Dukedom, thanked them for their unflinching support for the PDP over the years, especially in the 2023 general elections. He said during the 2023 political campaigns, “we said those who worked for the party would enjoy the fruits of their labour; we promised to reward those who worked for the victory of the PDP and its candidates, hence this empowerment gesture, even when the next election is still far away.”
The WUEDA DG then, on behalf of himself, the PDP and Ejinyere family, presented the sum of N20,000 to each beneficiary residing in Orerokpe Ward One. He also redeemed his pledge of N100,000 to one Mr. Omoruyi who lost his wife, to boost his small scale business. In support of Prince Ejinyere’s kind gesture to the bereaved, the first son of the Governor, Mr. Fred Oborevwori gave Mr. Omoruyi the sum of N500,000, followed by some friends of the DG who gave the widower varying amounts of money for the same reason.
PDP Chieftains from within and outside Orerokpe Ward One, including the State PDP Secretary, Barr. Isaacs Itebu, Okpe PDP Chairman, Hon. Agbamuno, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Ramson Ikueki, as well as Uvwie Local Govt Chairman, Hon. Chief Anthony Ofoni, amongst others, all commended the non indigenes for their support and assured them of continuous rewards as long as they remained loyal and committed to the PDP.
The non-indigenes who spoke through one of their leaders thanked Hon. Prince Ejinyere and the PDP for redeeming their promises, and assured the party of their unwavering support always.
Thereafter, the Godwin Ejinyere Political Train moved to Orerokpe Main Market where he and his team were given a rousing welcome by the traders. He also presented N20,000 each to the market women, ensuring that no one was left out. The leader of the highly elated market women, Madam Erukakpomre, thanked Okakuro Godwin Ejinyere for his benevolence towards the masses especially traders in the area. They also promised to remain committed to the PDP in subsequent general elections.
Other PDP dignitaries who graced the invent included the State PDP Woman Leader, Mrs. Dora Sakpaide; the PDP Okpe Ward One Chairman, Hon. Paul Ogbogbor; the wife of former Information Minister, Mrs. Sam Oyovwaire; as well as the wife of the DG, Hon. Princess Best Ejinyere, amongst many others.
