The Indigenous Correspondents Chapel (ICC) has congratulated Comrade Uba Dorathy Mbasen on her election as Financial Secretary in the just-concluded elections of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Comrade Kenneth Orusi, and the Secretary, Comrade Michael Odiah, the Chapel described Mbasen’s victory alongside the Comrade Sonia Unobunjo-led executive as a testament to her commitment, leadership qualities, and readiness to serve.
According to the release, “This victory reflects the confidence, trust, and admiration of members who have recognized your commitment, leadership qualities, and readiness to serve. Your emergence is a clear mandate to deliver purposeful leadership, promote inclusiveness, and sustain the ideals of progress and accountability.”
The ICC expressed confidence that under the new leadership, NAWOJ would experience renewed vigor, innovative ideas, and a strengthened spirit of collaboration that would advance the goals of women journalists across the country.
“As you begin this new chapter, we urge you to remain steadfast, transparent, and people-focused in all your endeavors as an ambassador of ICC,” the statement added.
The Chapel further wished Mbasen and the entire Unobunjo-led executive a fruitful and impactful tenure, while reaffirming its support for their collective efforts to uplift the journalism profession and promote women’s voices in the media.
