The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Emma Ejiofor has expressed his firm position on the the alleged installation of a new ‘Onishe’ in the kingdom.
Chief Ejiofor made this known, during a telephone conversation with our reporter.
He said the act was sacrilege and very strange as it was impossible for the community to have two Onishe title bearers.
He said the title which plays a vital role in the succession of the kingship is not one that is to be shared by two persons, adding that just as it is inconceivable to having two kings on the throne so it is with the Onishe title.
While emphasizing on the sacredness of the title and the consequences that befalls whoever dares to assume it, he said it was one that can not be given out while he is still alive.
According to the Onishe, the community prides itself on its traditional values and customs, and the titles held by individuals are indicative of their lineage and position within the community.
Ejiofor charged the people of Ubulu Uku to see the installation of another Onishe as a grave transgression against their and customs and violation of their established traditions.
