Police Officer, Dimka Joins Wife’s Foundation To Feed Over 500 Nigerian Students In Asaba

By Patrick Ochei

One of the finest Police officers in Delta State Police Command and Commander of the Eagle Net Special Squad in the State, SP Amb. Dr. Usman Dimka, today, Monday 13th February, 2023, turned the State Capital Asaba into a Mecca of sort, distributing food and drinks to Nigerian students struggling to do their JAMB registration at the Delta State E-Library complex, along Maryam Babangida Way.

This humanitarian reachout was staged by an NGO under the aegis of PZAFAAMA Helping Hands Foundation, which has Dimka’s wife, Princess (Mrs) Hauwa P. Usman Dimka as the Chief Executive Officer.

It was a huge one as over 500 students were planned for, with packs of enriched food, water and beverages distributed to them at the complex which is within the Asaba metropolis.

The Foundation in carrying out this humanitarian reach-out to the students who had come from various parts of the State for their JAMB registration at the Delta State E-Library complex; spurred the students who were moved by such act of benevolence, thereby resorting to praying for the Foundation to be replenished for such gestures and to succeed in all its endeavours.

Speaking to newsmen who accosted him to speak on the motivation behind such kindness, the Police officer extraordinaire, said he feels happy doing good to people and alleviating their sufferings.

According to him, “This NGO, PZAFAAMA Helping Hands Foundation is actually run by my wife as the CEO. Mine is to support her efforts in contributing meaningfully to humanity.

“Of course, my passion is giving a helping hand to people who are vulnerable either by birth circumstances or by misfortunes of life. It makes me happy seeing people happy. It was not a difficult thing supporting my wife, because what she is doing is what I am divinely inspired and endowed to do.

“So far, I have adopted 12 less privileged children whose school fees, feeding and medical needs I take care of every year until they will finish their university education and stand on their own. Just last year during my birthday, I celebrated it with the children at the City of David Orphanage and the Mother of Divine Grace Orphanage. That in itself was a show of my love for children in need of unrestrained love.

“Helping people is a normal routine for me; it is where I find my peace. If those who are privileged in the society could emulate the kindness of others, there won’t be so much people that are suffering in Nigeria.

“Showing love and helping those in need helps to reduce crime through positive empowerment that can only get them productively engaged. Personally, it is my everyday desire to see a loving, peaceful and prosperous society where everybody will live happily, irrespective of their statuses.

“I was moved by the dexterity of these students to get registered, even when they had been around since morning with no food to eat or water to drink. It touched me when I first saw them gathered in huge number just to get registered. I tell you, whatever you do for these ones today, they will remember tomorrow. And such act of kindness may even spur them to want to give back to society in future”, Dimka averred.

Speaking further, he condoled with the Nigerian Police Force, the Armed Forces and other paramilitary agencies that are losing their officers and men to terrorism and banditry.

He specifically prayed for the repose of the soul of his boss and mentor, late AIG Lawal Jimeta (AIG Zone 5, Benin), whose sudden death occurred after a brief illness; and of course, the souls of his three colleagues who were attached to the convoy of Governor Okowa that recently died in active service while escorting the Governor on campaign to Abia State.

He disclosed this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, on February 10, 2023 during the 17th Biennial Conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, which held at the Ecumenical Centre, Yenagoa.

He stated that since his assumption of duty in 2020, he was able to conceptualize the idea of having a direct flight from Nigeria to the State of Israel and that dream would come to fruition soon by  March this year.

He posited that having a direct flight to Israel would help to boost our bilateral relations with the State of Israel.

He hinted that the licence  for the  direct flight had been awarded  to an indigenous Nigerian airline which would be airlifting Nigerians and other nationals direct to Israel.

He further explained that the NCPC establishment Act of 2007 gave the Commission the sole mandate to coordinate and supervise the movement of Christians from Nigeria to the Biblical Holy Sites around the world.

He noted that within one year in the saddle, he was able to explore Holy Sites in the Kingdom of Jordan and afterwards had the maiden Pilgrimage exercise in Jordan in 2021 which was celebrated with pomp and pageantry by the Jordanians.

Cash Policy Not Meant To Suffer Nigerians, Says Ebigwei

By Christy Aboghe

The lyase of Obodogba Okpanam, Chief Dr. Sylvanus Ebigwei has described the cash less policy as a way of curtailing fraud, banditry, payment of ransom to kidnappers and other frivolous acts.

Ebigwei made this known while speaking with our reporter in Okpanam, Delta State.

He said the decision of Central Bank of Nigeria and the government in redesigning the naira notes, was a good idea, as it would help flush out many of the currencies that have defaced as a result of poor handling of the naira notes.

“I am not in support of the old naira notes, as the introduction of the new naira notes will help flush out fake currency in circulation” he said.

He said the only challenge with it, was the implementation of such policies, as it was badly handled.

He said though the government have reversed their stand on the cashless policy, the redesigning of the naira notes and the exchange of currencies, but then it is a very good idea.

According to him, no country allows the existence of currency for 20 years, adding that the Central Bank of England earlier redesigned the British pounds  from the old currency to a new one and the whole world took after, without rancour.

He said it would help Nigerians to progress, in terms of stabilisation of the naira notes, foreign exchange and removing every surplus cash from the general public and residing the same in the various banks in Nigeria, adding that about one third of the printed naira notes were deposited in the bank, while the rest are in people’s custody.

Ebigwei said the policy was meant to reduce vote buying, but instead, the masses are the ones suffering it, as the whole exercise which was to address many negativism, was scuffled.

He said it was unfortunate that some persons in the society deposits in holes, stores, gutters, buried in the farms, septic tanks, which in most cases gets destroyed by molds, water or burnt.

He said such acts can only be found in a primitive society where they lack trust of the banks and those who make money in dubious way

Reacting to the demand for continuous use of the old naira notes, the Iyase said those supporting the drive were doing so for their own selfish reasons and negative politics as there was no need to use money to buy people’s vote conscience if they were actually going to serve the masses as they claim, there was no need paying to serve them.
