He remarked, “Leadership as we perceive it is a fusion of nature and nurture. Some leaders are born, some are made.” He also stressed the importance of youthfulness of mind, stating, “Rather, we should look at the essence of youth as transcending mere numerical boundaries, to embody a state of mind characterized by vitality, creativity, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of progress.”

Drawing attention to the untapped potential of Nigeria’s youth population, Professor Ojaruega highlighted the obstacles of disempowerment, marginalization, and lack of opportunities that hinder their contribution to society. She expressed, “Under optimal circumstances, the composition of the country’s population should ordinarily hint at a wealth of untapped potential awaiting harnessing for groundbreaking and expansive endeavors.”

In her analysis of the flaws in Nigeria’s leadership recruitment and empowerment processes, Professor Ojaruega identified the enduring effects of colonialism, entrenched political interests, and limited opportunities as major culprits. Equally.” Egedegbe further highlighted the value drift in society as a root cause of the problem, stating, “For me, that’s the beginning of the problem. When people do not give up, they don’t give up. They give room for excellence. We now thrive in mediocrity. This is what you get.”

Dr. Harvey Igben, another panelist and esteemed economist, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the private sector and the government to enable policies and their effective implementation. He encouraged them to read and acquire knowledge, stating, “Don’t wait to be empowered. Empower yourself. Professor Rukevwe Ugwumba, also a discussants, a professor of family medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Canad, and a politician of note in her submission said that for Nigeria to get it’s leadership right, there must be a delebrate policy to enthrone meritocracy above nepotism, tribalism sexism, elitism and corruption in our electoral system which undermines our leadership recruitment process.

Delta Serves Demolition Notice To Illegal Land Occupiers

Delta State Government, has issued demolition notice to illegal occupiers of government lands, particularly Dennis Osadebay University lands in Asaba.

The Chairman, Taskforce on Recovery of Government Lands, Chief Frank Omare, gave the demolition notice during an inspection of the affected lands in Asaba, the state capital.

Chief Omare, who was flanked by members of the committee, warned that government would no longer tolerate illegal structures built on government lands by land speculators.

Areas visited by the Committee include 74 Road, Musa Camp and Dennis Osadebay University, Anwai-Asaba.

Chief Omare stressed that, as a responsible administration, the state government had given enough notice to the illegal developers and warned that those who have valuable items in their houses should remove them before the demolition exercise begins.

He said that the committee had carried out enough enlightenment to the affected land speculators to stop deceiving investors to acquire lands belonging to the state government.

The Chairman appealed to investors to make appropriate enquiries before buying any land, warning that ignorance was not an excuse.

“We have given them adequate time and they know that where they have built is government land. None of these developers has Certificate of Occupancy (Cof O).

“This exercise will also be carried out wherever government lands have been encroached on across the 25 local government areas of the state,” Omare said.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ben Oghojafor debunked accusations of the university selling land to developers at Musa Camp and pledged the institution’s support for the efforts of the Committee to recover its land.

He stressed, “I have no reason, either of poverty or otherwise, induced, compelled and encouraged, to sell one meter of land belonging to Dennis Osadebay University.

“Mr Chairman, you have the full support of the university to demolish any property within the coordinates of the approved land for Dennis Osadebay University.”

Earlier, some protesters from the Iyase and Onishe families of Asaba stormed Government House, Asaba, to state their own part of the land dispute.

Spokesmen of the group appealed to the government to allow them repossess part of their family land acquired from their forefathers in 1954, stressing that demolishing areas already built up would render them homeless.

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon Johnson Erijo, who received them, thanked them for the peaceful protest, assuring that their request would be channelled to the Governor for prompt action.

He said government was committed to ensuring that illegal acquisition of land was not tolerated, in addition to ensuring that communities had access to their legitimate land.

Addressing the Committee during a visit to the Nsopi area, a representative of the community, Mr Ikemefuna Akpoku, thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for constituting a formidable team to recover all land belonging to the Dennis Osadebay University being encroached upon by land speculators.

He said the community was in support of the action, promising to partner government in the recovery process.

Gov Oborevwori Committed To Good Governance, Fiscal Discipline – EAC Latimore

…Says President Tinubu needs advise from APC leaders as inflation rose to 40% in April

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and some persons with staled membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), have been told to advise the federal government and President Bola Tinubu, as Nigeria’s inflation rate rose to forty percent (40%) in April.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday, the Executive Assistant on Communications to Delta State Governor, Barrister Latimore Oghenesivbe, said the advise became necessary, so as to save ordinary Nigerians who constitutes over 90% of the population from incremental acute hardship, hunger, frustration and hopelessness in the face of pitiable mismanaged national economy by the Tinubu led APC national government.

He noted that Nigeria is in a state of socioeconomic comatose, wherein citizens have lost hope in the ability of the ruling party at the centre to correct itself on various anti people socioeconomic policies introduced from May 29, 2015 till date, saying that it was and still the duty of leaders of the APC and their one leg-in PDP friends to advise the Presidency to save Nigeria from the foreseeable danger of total economic collapse.

Barrister Oghenesivbe, who is also the Head of Delta State Orientation Bureau, said the state government under the MORE agenda of governor Oborevwori, is committed to it’s realistic reforms that is already yielding positive results in all sectors of the state economy, adding that progress so far made has attracted commendation from well meaning Deltans and Nigerians.

He said those who are surprised at the enviable performance of governor Oborevwori, should do well to commend his food governance strides, and join hands with him to do more for the people, rather than cast unjustifiable and laughable aspersions that goes to no issue whatsoever.

Oghenesivbe assured governor Oborevwori’s detractors and political rivals that no stone shall be left unturned in the ongoing robust implementation of the MORE Agenda to substantially upscale development, create wealth and jobs for Deltans, and that the number of gigantic projects across the three senatorial districts shall increase.

He noted that for the first time since the creation of Delta State, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, which is widely recognized as the major construction giant in Nigeria, has been drafted by the governor to construct three flyer overs and road expansion projects, while assuring Deltans that governor Oborevwori will sustain fiscal discipline and prudent management of resources, serve to the best of his abilities in fulfilment of his social contract with citizens of the state.

He expressed absolute confidence in the capacity, pedigree and resourcefulness of members of the state executive council to assist the governor to deliver quality dividends of democracy to all Deltans on a regular basis, devoid of political affiliation, ethnic nationality and religious bigotry.

“Delta State is in good standing and moving forward. Insecurity is a national problem which the federal government have been battling without success. It’s not a Delta State thing if you check the history of bandits and terrorism in Nigeria. The truth is that Delta is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

“The problem of Nigeria was caused, created or instigated by the anti people economic policies of the federal government under the All Progressives Congress, APC, as introduced from May 29, 2015 till date. It’s bitting harder with inflation rate now at 40% all high.

“I think it’s time for leaders of the APC and their co-conspirators in PDP (one leg in, one leg out) and in other parties, to advise Mr President and the federal government to reverse all anti development economic policies so far introduced since APC took control of the government at the centre.

“There is spiral silence in the country, due largely to disinformation and propaganda tactics of the Tinubu administration, using a section of the mass media to manipulate Nigerians and the international community, while plunging our country into the bottomless pit of retrogressive economy.

“Governor Oborevwori is not disturbed by unwanted distractions of certain individuals misrepresenting the state due to selfish political interests.

“The MORE agenda full scale implementation is ongoing, and at the end of the first tenure of Oborevwori’s administration his detractors shall applaud, appreciate and congratulate him, and even endorse him for second tenure,” Oghenesivbe assured.
