Gov. Oborevwori Is Passionate About Developing Delta–Osuoza

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza has said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s development strides in the state had made his job as chief spokesman for the government much easier.
Dr. Osuoza made the declaration when he received on courtesy visit, Executive Committee Members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Delta State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe.
The commissioner appreciated members of the Institute for helping to drive home the policies and programmes of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.
While urging the NIPR to continue to play its role as a critical partner with the state government in delivering dividends of democracy by communicating government’s activities to the grassroot.

Dr. Osuoza noted that Governor Oborevwori was passionate about the development of all parts of Delta State, stressing that every part of the state would benefit from the government’s MORE agenda.
Speaking earlier, Delta State Chapter Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe noted that Dr. Osuoza’s track record as an erudite communicator would stand him in good stead in projecting the development initiatives of the Oborevwori administration.
Mr. Osakwe averred that though the current perception of leaders in Nigeria as “great masters of intrigues” had increased the trust deficit between citizens and their leaders, the Institute, as a body backed by law, was in the business of relationship management and would do everything within its enabling law to encourage its members to “up their game and create engaging content to amplify the successes of the present administration.”
The NIPR Chairman informed the commissioner that by March 31st, 2024, the Institute will start the enforcement of weeding the system of quacks, as the Institute certification remains the prerequisite for any individual in the practice of public relations profession in any part of the federation.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of the Institute’s membership form to Dr. Osuoza.

Human Rights Violation Advocacy, Strategic Approach To Social Justice

Sustained advocacy aimed at raising awareness on human rights violations, especially against women, children and inhuman treatments against persons have been identified as strategic approach towards social justice, peaceful coexistence and development in any society.

This was the focus during an awareness campaign in Warri organized by Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Delta State Chapter in collaboration with Human Rights Protection Congress, International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Warri Branch and the Development Initiative for Community Impact, DICI, to commemorate World Day of Social Justice with the theme “Bridging Gaps, Building Alliance”.

February 20 every year was designated by the 63rd United nations General Assembly to mark World Day of Social Justice targeted at the economic emancipation of women in bridging the lacuna that exists, as well as championing a coordinated world approach in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals number 1, 2, 3, and 10 agenda by 2030 which seek for gender equality, ending poverty, ensuring healthy living, amongst others.

By this very direction, the goals would encourage women inclusivity, address gender based inequality, ensuring social justice which inturn would impact on the global Gross Domestic Product, and huge returns to developing economies Nigeria’s due to collaborations and impact of globalisation.

In commemoration of this year’s World Day of Social Justice, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Delta State Chapter, led by its Chairperson, Comrade Sonia Unobunjo, flanked by members, together with the National Secretary of the Human Rights Protection Congress, Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, Warri branch and her team, and the Development Initiative for Community Impact, DICI were at the popular Polokor Market in Warri to sensitize traders, mainly women, on human rights and key social issues that would promote social justice and peaceful coexistence in society.

The NAWOJ Delta Chairperson raised the need for women and other traders to be aware of their rights and stand against social injustice through cooperation with relevant human rights activist, as well as the media so as to achieve a society of equity, fairness, reiterating the need for them to be alert and speak out whenever things go wrong.

Human Rights Protection Congress National Secretary, Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo, Chairperson of International Federation of Women Lawyers, Mrs Ogechi Megbele, as well as a former Councillor in Warri South, Chief Linda Ikpuri, further stressed on the right of women, children and men alike, and made case for the protection of victims of rape, molestation and other gender based violence.

They appealed to mothers to prioritise the welfare of their children, warning against child labour and insisting that child education is a right and not a privilege.

While the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, International Federation of Women Lawyers and Human Rights Protection Congress recognised the present economic hardship in which women are the worst hit, stated that deliberate actions from members of the society in achieving social injustice can still not be overemphasised.

During the sensitization, the various groups encouraged the public to report complaints, especially on human rights violations to the group so as to see that such issues are addressed appropriately.

NCPC Boss Sends Message Of Hope , Encouragement To Nigerians

The Executive Secretary Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite has sent a message of hope and encouragement to Nigerians in the face of dwindling economic situation in the country.

The NCPC Scribe made this known on Monday,  February 19,  2023 during a courtesy visit to the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel Okoh in his office at the CAN Secretariat , Abuja.

He described his message to Nigerians as that of encouragement and hope, stating that the situation the country is experiencing currently is occasioned by global recession.

Bishop Adegbite called on Nigerians to exercise patience and should be optimistic that things would definitely turn around for good in the country.

He affirmed that President Bola TInubu has good intentions for the citizenry

He further urged Nigerians to pray for those at the helm of affairs in the country.

He reiterated that NCPC is for the Church. According to him,” this assignment belongs to you and the body of Christ”.

The NCPC helmsman averred that he would use NCPC to foster unity among the citizens of this country. He explained that without peace in the land there would be no meaningful development.

He assured the number one Christian leader in the country that the Commission would collaborate with CAN under his leadership in order to make Pilgrimage a life transforming experience.

He hinted that the Commission plans to sponsor pilgrims to the Holy land , especially those who are disadvantaged.

In his remarks, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel Okoh described the NCPC boss as a defender of the Faith, a co- labourer in the vineyard of God “.

His Eminence thanked God for the appointment of Bishop Stephen Adegbite as the Executive Secretary of NCPC.According to him” I thank the Lord for this your appointment at this time we are looking for more christians to have experience of Pilgrimage”.

The President of CAN said he was aware of the challenges facing the Commission in terms of funding and the rest, however, he promised to continue to uphold the Commission in prayer.

In the words of Archbishop Okoh, ” you have demonstrated great understanding of Pilgrimage over the years , prior to your appointment”. Thus he said he has what it takes to pilot the affairs of NCPC to higher heights.
He urged him to continue to bring people together so that the Commission would leverage on it to bring everyone together under one body .

He prayed for the success of the government of President Bola TInubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi TInubu. He said the President and the First Lady have extended their hands of fellowship to the apex Christian body.

The President of CAN posited,” if we want to be happy, we should pray for those in authority in the country to succeed”, he said.

The NCPC boss was accompanied to the courtesy visit by all the Directors of the Commission and key management staff.

Aniocha, Oshimili DPG Pours Encomium On  State Director On His Birthday

The Province one of the Directorate of Politics and Governance (DPG), Aniocha North and South, Oshimili North and South chapters has paid a courtesy visit to her State Director, Apst Dr. Cyril Okonye on his birthday and new appointment as the State Coordinator (SC) to the Governor on Religious Matters, Delta State.

The visit was characterised by joyous, hilarious, emotional and nostalgic moment at the surprise arrival of the team, his beloved wife, family and well wishers in Government House, Asaba, on Tuesday February 20, 2024.

The Province Officer of Politics, who led the Province one DPG Delegations, Pst Barr Leonard Azomani thanked God for the life and health of Apst Dr. Cyril Okonye and his new appointment as the SC on Religious Matters, Delta State.

He went further to express his deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Delta State Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori,for finding Okonye worthy for the cap, describing the SC as a dynamic personality inclined with innovative divine wisdom and the capacity to drive the M.O.R.E agenda in the state from the religious angle.

Barr. Azomani showered encomium on the adorable wife of the State Director DPG, Rev. Mrs Onome Okonye on her faithful and dogged commitments in standing by her husband to wither the storms of life.

Hon. Cyril Okonye, amidst emotional disposition expressed his gratitude to God for the gift of life and strength, seeing him through the journey of life and his new appointment. He thanked his wife, family and DPG for their outstanding supports and concerns for him. He appreciated His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for finding him worthy to serve in his administration, promising to do his best for the State.

DELTA SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE: Akpovie Reiterates Commitment To Job Creation, Economic Growth

The Managing Director, Delta Special Economic, Pastor Godwin Akpovie has assured Deltans of over 50,000 jobs, foreign exchange and massive revenue generation in the next three years.

Akpovie disclosed this during the signing of agreement with Okime Partners and Advisors at his office in Asaba, Delta State.

He said it will range from construction, production, power, tourism, amongst others.

He said it was in fulfillment of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s four point agenda, to reduce youth restiveness and provide realistic opportunity for all Deltans.

According to the MD, with the assurance from the investors of doing things in a digital way, there will be transfer of technology.

Speaking on the Kwale and Koko free trade zone, he underscored the significance of attracting investments to the State which include to drive industrialization, generate revenue, generate employment and unlock the State’s economic potential.

The Director, Special Economic Zone, Mr Emmanuel Ofunne said their activity which was in line with the MORE agenda of the governor, would help create wealth for the people of the State.

The Chairman of Okime partners and Advisors, Alhaji Nasiru Inuwa Wada, said as promoters of industrial and economic development, their partnership with the Delta Special Economic Zone is to bring to life the dream of Deltans through free trade.

Wada said with the multifaceted development, and endless opportunities, they will be leveraging on the traditional skills of the people in the area, bringing in innovative ideas through training, education and enlightenment.

While adding that they will give an enabling environment where the natural ability of the people will come to fore, and create self employed opportunities for themselves and their communities, he said it is a process of awakening talents in the youth.

Also speaking, one of the investors, Engr Ahmed Mohammed, said they were ready to work assiduously so as to open up opportunity for the people of the state.

The Managing Director of Okime Partners and Advisors, Nere Emiko said the project will connect the vast natural resources and the people.

Emiko urged Deltans to be expectant of a region they will be proud of in the next fifty years as they will also consider the natural environment as it will not be turned into concrete.

She said they were envisioning a zone that will be very mixed, one that is very different and has never been seen in Nigeria as it will comprise of agro allied, water, tourism and transportation industries, infrastructure and many more in the state.

On his part, member of Okime Partners, Prof. Goodwill Ofunne said they are prepared to help Deltans build up wealth, through the use of their innovative capacity.

He said as developers they will accelerate development, adding that human capital required for the development is available.

Ofunne said the use communication tool will be synergies with the resources available in Koko to bring many people who have not been able to realise the amount of wealth around them and also convert those wealth to things that can be used for humanity.

He said they are they ready establish Koko in line with industries that train and innovate people to use robots, thereby preparing the young ones for the future.

DSEZ Signs Development Agreement With Okime Partners

In line with the four point agenda of the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the management of Delta Special Economic Zone have sealed an agreement bond with Okime Partners and Advisors.
This was made known during the signing of the development agreement at the Koko and Kwale Free Trade Zone office in Asaba.
The Chief Executive Officer of Delta Special Economic Zone, Pastor Godwin Akpovie said the new investment partnership agreement is meant to attract investments and promote industrialization within the state.
While underscoring the significance of attracting investments to the state, he said it would drive industrialization, unlock the state’s economic potential, generate revenue and employment for youths in the state.
Akpovie called on investors to key into business opportunities that abound in the state just as the lead investor, Okime Partner and Advisors had done.
The Chairman of Okime Partners and Advisors, Nasiru Inuwa Wada in his remarks expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to collaborate with the Delta Special Economic Zone.
He highlighted the state’s favorable investment climate and the strategic location of the Koko Free Trade Zone as key factors that influenced their decision to invest in the state just as he indicated interest in building infrastructures, rail, electricity and ICT.
On his part, director of the Delta Special Economic Zone, Emmanuel Ofunne who was elated by the development opined that the agreement will also allow the parties to evaluate potential opportunities for investment in the zone.


Others who spoke during the ceremony said the partnership will foster economic growth and prosperity in the state and Nigeria as a whole .

NCRIC Applauds Delta On Child’s Rights Success Story

The National Child’s Rights Implementation Committee (NCRIC) has applauded Delta State for the successes it has recorded since the inauguration of Delta State Child’s Rights Implementation Committee in 2020.

The Co-Chairman of NCRIC, Dr. Nwaobiala Macjohn gave the commendation during a 2-Day Capacity Building Workshop, organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs for three Principal Officers of State’s Child’s Rights Implementation Committee (SCRIC) in the South-South Geo-Political Zone, which held at Uyo in Akwa-Ibom State, from Monday February 19 to Tuesday February 20, 2024.

Dr. Nwaobiala affirmed that the achievements of Delta State Committee were rich enough to form part of the NCRIC reports to be transmitted to Geneva on the progress of Nigeria with regards to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Earlier while making a presentation of progress report from Delta State Child’s Rights Implementation Committee, the Chairman, Mrs. Oghenekevwe Agas had reeled out the achievements of the Committee under her leadership, which were possible by proper partnership with the Government of Delta State.

She said apart from getting regular funding to run the SCRIC Secretariat in terms of carrying out awareness creation of the activities of the Committee, paying of advocacy visits to government agencies, security agencies, religious bodies, traditional institution, etc, the Committee had also gone ahead to inaugurate the Local Government Child’s Rights Implementation Committees (LCRICs) with Secretaries of Local Governments as chairmen and the Heads of Personnel Management (HPMs) as secretaries.

Agas equally reported the milestone accomplishment of the State in setting up the Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) in Specialist Hospitals in the three Senatorial Districts of Delta State to enable victims of rape and defilement get adequate treatment, as well as provide a platform for data to be generated for investigation and legal pursuit for justice.

Expect More Support In Food Production, Oborevwori Tells Farmers

Delta State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has assured fish farmers of more support in food production..

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon Oligida Samuel gave the assurance during the cluster development programme organised by Small and Medium Enterprises Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) for Camp 74 Progressive Whales fish farm and processing cluster in Asaba, the state capital..

He said as part of the governor’s four point agenda, there is opportunity for all Deltans to excel in business.

According to him funds have been made available for them to expand their business and improve on food chain in the state,
Presenting the fish smokey kit to the fish farmers, he advised them to remain focus and determined as there was so much to benefit from the state government.

The Chairman of the fish farm, Mr Fidelis Emeka Ogwu while appreciating the governor and SMEDAN for the gesture said they were ready to turn the state to the food hub of the nation.

Ogwu said with the increase in the demand for smoked fish, the smokey kiln would help add more value and profit to their businesses.

He said with the current profit in exportation business, the equipment would enhance the easy processing of their fishes which will in turn be well packaged and sold in large quantity, unlike the fresh fishes.

The Chairman said the smokey kit which will be managed by some selected farmers would help the cooperative generate more revenue..

Ogwu also requested for provision of a solar borehole in the farm so as to enable them have water to feed their fishes.

On his part, the state cordinator of SMEDAN, Mr Leke Babalola said the fish processing equipment will help the fish farmers improve on their businesses.

Babalola said the gesture which is meant for well focused business persons under clusters in the state was a way of ameliorating their plights.

Anioma People Of Delta Grieve As Omu Anioma Joins Ancestors

The Anioma Nation in Delta State of Nigeria, has been thrown into yet another mourning as the very revered Traditional connoisseur and culture colossus, Her Royal Majesty, Obi Martha Dunkwu (Omu Okpanam/Omu Anioma/Nneoha) joins her Ancestors in an unannounced transition.

The Organisation For the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC) as the umbrella body of Anioma Culture, led by her President and CEO of Contemporary Group Ltd, Arc. Kester Ifeadi has paid a condolence visit to the family of the Omu Okpanam/Omu Anioma and Nneoha.

In their emotional laden visit, the delegationh expressed the unreserved grief of Anioma Nation to the very unexpected and unprepared transition of the epitome of Anioma Culture who was a Board of Trustee member of OFAAC.

Ifeadi in a teary eyes affirmed that Anioma Nation had lost a rare gem, a living legend created in a class of her own and a traditional leader that had brought visibility and glamour to the culture and traditions of Anioma people of Nigeria.

Additionally, he said it would be difficult for Anioma to recover from the irreversible loss that Omu Martha Dunkwu’s transition had placed it, thereby encouraging all and sundry to take solace in the fact that she had left a legacy that can never be erased.

In the family’s response, Omu Dunkwu’s only biological child and lecturer at the University of Benin, Dr. Afamefuna Dunkwu-Okafor appreciated the OFAAC delegation for coming to identify with the bereaved family.

He said his mother lived for her people and had now gone to be with her Ancestors, having fulfilled her earthly mission.

Dr. Afamefuna Okafor acknowledged that her dearly beloved mother had long prepared for this day, thereby charging all Anioma people not to despair but to carry on with the ideology and legacies of Obi Martha Dunkwu.

The Executive members of OFAAC who accompanied the President on the condolence visit include; the Vice President, Mr. Paddy Ugboh, a Director, Mr. Emmanuel Ogwu and the Coordinator, Prince Andrew Obi-Okolie.

352 Students Celebrates 2023/2024 Matriculation Meremony In ADUN University, Delta State

About 352 students admitted for the 2023/2024 academic session in the Admiralty University of Nigeria,Ibusa, Delta State, celebrated their matriculation ceremony in the said institution.

The Delta State governor Elder Oborevwori Sheriff who grace the ceremony, commended the students for their time learning.

Oborevwori who was represented by the Commissioner for higher education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari urged the students to take their study more seriously.

He commended their parents for the role played so far on their children even during the hard time.

Oborevwori, calls on the students to focus on their studies to enable them achieve a greater goal.

Speaking at the ceremony, the matriculation lecture was taken, by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu , thanked the students on the matriculation ceremony.

Emu told the students that they have a very key vital role to play in their study and beyond.

He urged them to embrace studies, shun evil vices both from friends and be of good behaviour/manners in their learning.

The Vice Chancellor of the said University, Prof. Paul Omojo Omaji, welcome the students and their parents for finding time to honour the matriculation ceremony.

He calls on the students to study very hard, be of good moral to the society and remain focus in learning.

In the same vein, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Navy Holdings LTD, Admiral Huf Kaoje, said that the University is a product of the vision of the Nigerian Navy.

Kaoje who was represented by Real Admiral Kayode Adetimi said that many of the students chose the institution due to its defining character.

He added that, the students must begin to see themselves as part of a unique community.

He congratulate them for the memorable experience in their young lives and their academic journey that has just began.

While urging the students to use the boundless opportunities that ADUN offers to set a positive marker in their lives.
