We’ll Engage FG To Revitalise Delta Ports – Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori,  on tuesday, said his administration would engage relevant Federal Government authorities for the revitalisation of all seaports in the state.

Governor Oborevwori stated this when he received the Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Majesty Atuwatse III, CFR, and his retinue of chiefs at Government House, Asaba.

He commended the leadership quality of the Olu of Warri, describing him as a blessing to our generation.

Oborevwori said; “I appreciate you for the love you have shown this administration. You have been very supportive and I appreciate you for coming here today to congratulate me. As a royal father, you prayed for all of us (Governorship candidates) and your prayer then was that God should give the state somebody that will move the state higher.

“You blessed all of us but I was chosen and that’s the reason you are here today with all your people. Your Majesty, your leadership quality is something that we appreciate. You are a blessing to our generation.

“This administration places a high premium on the role of traditional rulers in governance. This is because the royal fathers are the bridge between the people at the grassroot and the government.

“Without the royal fathers, we can’t achieve peace in all our kingdoms. So, they are in charge of their kingdoms; that’s why we always go to them to seek their prayers and support.

“Please, anything that we are doing as a government that you are not pleased with, don’t fail to correct us. My government is open to constructive criticism.

“And if we are also doing very well, don’t fail to commend us. Constructive criticism is allowed everywhere in the world and Delta State would not be an exception. What we don’t like is blackmail.

“Your Majesty, I have listened to your request. I promised during my inauguration that Warri will have a positive new face. I have gone round Warri and looked at some places with urgent attention; we are already working on that.

“We are already working on a befitting stadium for Warri. As we speak, they are doing the design of the stadium because I don’t want a situation where we construct and after a few years, it will start having problems.

“We also have challenge with the drains in that area; as we speak, phase 1 of the storm drainage has been completed by Levant, phase 2 is about 90 per cent completed and the last, which is the phase three, will soon be completed.

“Without the storm drainage, if you construct any road in Warri, it will be washed away. I want to assure you that Warri will have a positive new face in Jesus name.” he said.

On the controversy surrounding attempted renaming of parts of Warri, Governor Oborevwori cautioned proponents to maintain the existing peace in the oil city.

“People talk about Warri; Warri today has expanded beyond the main town. Even today, people call Osubi, Warri. I don’t know why people want to make trouble.

“Warri today is a general name. I am from Osubi but when you ask me where I am from, I will tell you Warri. So, Warri is Warri and nobody can change it.”

On the ports, Governor Oborevwori said he was committed to engaging the Federal Government on the revitalisation of the ports in the state.

“The Port is something that is key to the development of Delta state. Even without coming here to make a request, I will start engaging with the people at the national to see how all the Ports in Delta state will be rehabilitated.

“If the Ports are rehabilitated, it will bring a lot of developments in the state. The issue of refinery, I know that as soon as they finish the maintenance of the refinery, it will come back to operation.”

On the request for clean water in the riverine areas, Oborevwori said; “we actually need clean water. There is a project that is on going and your son is the Commissioner for Water Resources; I know he will brief me and he knows what to do. If he comes with the proposal, we will look into it”.

He thanked the Warri Kingdom and the Itsekiri nation for their support for his election, adding that no ethnic nationality would be marginalised in his administration.

“The Warri kingdom and the Itsekiri nation supported me during my election that’s why we did not lose in any of the local government areas in that area. That’s why you see that in this administration, we have four Commissioners and one Special Adviser from your area.” Governor Oborevwori stated.

Earlier, the Olu of Warri, HRM Atuwatse III, CFR, said he led a delegation of the Itsekiri nation to congratulate the Governor on his victory at the Supreme Court.

He appealed to the Governor to help site an institution of higher learning in Warri kingdom.

The Monarch said: “The people have spoken; and now the courts have spoken. The same God who set you on this path, will continue to guide you and perfect what He has started. You have our support and prayers.

“We also want to express our appreciation, for infrastructural developments in Warri axis. The roads, drainages, stadium, particularly the Ode-Itsekiri Road and bridges, Ugborodo phase 2 road which links Ugbegungun to Otumara).

“While it is under the purview of the Federal Government, we request that you join our voice in encouraging the Federal Government to speedily move in the direction of rehabilitating the ports in Delta state and refinery in Warri.

“Revitalising these ports would ease the plight of idleness and unemployment with our young able youths”.

He appealed to the Governor to help conclude the water scheme, joint development between the state and Chevron, for the Olero and Dibi axis, stressing that potable water in the riverine area had always been an issue.

“We need all the assistance we can get from the government to make access to potable water easier for our people in Tebu, Gbokoda, Ajametan, Udoh and Jakpa.”

Former Governor of the State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, and top government functionaries from the Itsekiri nation joined Governor Oborevwori in welcoming the Olu’s delegation.

Oborevwori Grieves Over Passing Of Asaba Monarch

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has expressed sadness on the passing of the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR.

The Asagba, who was a distinguished medical scholar and first Black-African indigenous Dean of Medicine in a foreign land, passed on few months to his centenary birth anniversary.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Oborevwori stated that the revered monarch, throughout his 33-year reign, provided purposeful leadership for his people and residents of Asaba, the state capital.

He said that Asaba witnessed a quantum leap in urbanisation during Edozien’s rule, with respect to population, infrastructure, and socio-political developments.

The Governor remarked that Professor Edozien made significant contributions over the years to making Asaba welcoming and pleasant for all Nigerians. According to him, the late Asagba was a “scholar per excellence, bridge-builder, and elder statesman.

Oborevwori prayed that God would rest the soul of the departed monarch and grant the royal family and the people of Asaba the strength to bear this great loss.

We’ll Stand With You Till 2031, Delta Youths Assure Oborevwori

A coalition of Delta State Community Youth Forum, on Monday, declared its unalloyed support for the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, affirming that they would rally round him for a second tenure till 2031.

Members of the coalition who were in Government House, Asaba, in large numbers on a solidarity visit to the governor, said they would continue to support the policies and programmes of the Governor Oborevwori- led administration in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the coalition, the President of the National Association of Delta State Students, NADESSTU, Comrade Monday Wiiska, said they were in Government House to celebrate the governor’s victory in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial poll in the state and his subsequent legal victories at the various courts up to the Supreme Court.

Comrade Whiska disclosed that 80 critical youth groups, representing the diverse ethnic nationalities in the three senatorial districts of the state which constitute the coalition, had decided to unite in a harmonious declaration of support to celebrate the victory of the governor.

He said: “We stand here today, as leaders of various ethnic nationalities; PDP youth leaders (male and female); the Critical Youth Group in Delta State under the umbrella of Delta State community youth who are representing the vast interest of majority of youths, to declare our support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori till 2031.

“We stand with you till 2031 where you will have ample time to deliver on your passionate mandate of the MORE Agenda just as it is written in the holy book of Job Chapter 22 verse 28 that ‘as we decree on Earth, so shall it be established in heaven.

“Your victory is a reverberating echo of the peoples resolute mandate bestowed upon you at the gubernatorial election held on 18 of March, 2023.

“During the election, the vibrant youths of Delta State chose you because we believed in you and your MORE Agenda for Deltans.

“The choice of the youths and other Deltans resonated powerfully in your victory in 21 out of the 25 local government areas across the state during the election.

“As we express our felicitation for your triumph at the Supreme Court, we are overwhelmed with joy over your distinctive vision for Delta State which is now yielding tremendous dividends.

“You have recorded remarkable progress since the birth of your administration. We can boast of the contract awarded to Julius Berger PLC, employment of teaching and non-teaching staff in primary schools across the state and payment of pensions to retirees in the state, among others.

“Your compassionate care for Deltans through timely distribution of palliatives was top-notch. Within your first six months of stewardship, your legacy in the state is growing impressively.”

Responding, Governor Oborevwori thanked the youths for their support and pledged to continue working for the peace and development of the state.

The Governor said: “It is my pleasure to receive you all here today. Thank you for thinking it worthwhile to come and express your solidarity with me on the affirmation of my electoral victory at the Supreme Court.

“Let me sincerely thank all of you because I am aware that throughout the trials, all of you were there for me. Some of you went to Lagos and Abuja several times during the court cases.

“God will bless you all for your sacrifices. And, like I have promised Deltans, I am going to be a Governor for all Deltans.

“This love that you have shown me and this government, it’s only God that will show you your own love. When I stepped into this hall, I saw the youth standing shoulder to stakeholder for my cause and I am impressed with the turnout.

“I want to sincerely commend the Commissioner for Youths and the Special Adviser for this outing. The Commissioner approached me that the youths are coming on a solidarity visit and here you are today.

“My victory at the Supreme Court was celebrated all over Delta state; in the 270 wards, in all the 25 local government areas of the state and the three senatorial districts were all agog in celebration of this victory.”

Governor Oborevwori assured the youths of his continued partnership, saying; “I have lived with you people here and I know your pains. All I want to assure you is that I will not disappoint you with my street wisdom and street credibility.

“All of you worked very hard to deliver PDP and for us to win 21 local government areas with a margin of over 120,000 votes in a BVAS- based election, it was just God who touched you all to come out enmasse to give me your mandate. Let me assure you that I will not disappoint you with this mandate you have given to me.

“When I was campaigning, I said I will include youths into the government; today, I have over 10 of them that are below 40 years and they have good content to serve the people of Delta State. I am a promise keeper and they are doing well in the positions given to them.

“In less than eight months, I have employed over 3,000 teaching and non-teaching staff. I have also approved the bursary payment for students, awaiting Exco ratification and the money is already available.

“I have also been running this administration for the past eight months without borrowing. So far, we have ran the government without borrowing, and we are paying workers and contractors without failing. I assure you once again that under our administration, there is going to be more unity and peace in this state.”

Oborevwori Upscaling Durable Infrastructure, Socioeconomic Development In Delta- Oghenesivbe

…Says ongoing speed of development necessary to Advance Delta

Executive Assistant on Communications and Orientation to Delta State Governor, Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe has again assured Deltans that governor Sheriff Oborevwori, will continue to upscale the scope of durable infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the three senatorial districts of Delta Central, North and South, as encapsulated in his MORE agenda undergoing full scale implementation.

He gave the assurance on Wednesday, during a SLEEK FM public affairs phone-in programme which was broadcast live in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area and monitored across the state, saying that there are numerous ongoing educational and roads infrastructure projects across Delta North, including; Ika North East and Ika South, which would significantly increase the scope of commercial activities, create jobs and wealth for the people in those communities.

Oghenesivbe stated that the ongoing large scale development in the state was and still very necessary to Advance Delta in all ramifications, noting that governor Oborevwori has so far exhibited result oriented leadership skills and shall continue to do so to deliver more, and more dividends of good governance to the people till May 29, 2031.

The Chief Executive Officer of the State Orientation Bureau, Barr Latimore, listed some of the projects in Delta North to include; construction of Mission road, Akumazi-Umuocha road, construction of Ute-Ogbeke-Otolokpo road, construction of Ute-Erumu-Idumesah road, construction of 11.5 kilometers Ute-Okpu-Ute-Elugu road and the underground water tunnel mega projects in Owa-Alero, Owa-Alizomor and Owa-Odie to empty flood water into Iyi-Amah stream.

He said these solid road infrastructure projects are near completion based on visible progress of work already done, and as stipulated in the contractual terms, adding that governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the contractors are working round the clock to ensure that the projects are ready for commissioning within time, while some of them shall be commissioned during activities to mark the first year anniversary of this administration in May.

Oghenesivbe also mentioned some ongoing infrastructure projects in the educational sector in Delta North, namely; construction of Faculty of Engineering, Delta State University, Owa-Alero campus, construction of College of Health Sciences, University of Delta, Agbor campus and the construction of Faculty of Environmental Sciences, University of Delta, Owa-Alero campus, among others.

He, however, noted that high inflation rate of over thirty two percent, which consistently increased the costs of construction materials and equipment, has to a large extent slowed down pace of work at some construction sites across the state, as applicable to other states of the federation, which was why some contractors had to pressurize the state government to review contracts, while some others left sites till after the review.

The EA Communications and Orientation, assured Deltans that governor Oborevwori is on top of the contract review matter, and that affected contractors shall soon mobilize to site to complete all such projects, assuring that uncompleted projects inherited from the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, shall be completed and commissioned for use, while initiating and executing new projects across the state.

In another radio interview monitored in Asaba, Oghenesivbe further disclosed that similar educational infrastructure projects are near completion at Dennis Osadebey University, Anwai near Asaba and Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, while others have been completed and commissioned by the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, including the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge of Dennis Osadebey University.

He further stated that the state governor, Elder Oborevwori recently approved the payment of Bursary to Students of Delta State origin in all Institutions of Higher Learning across the country, to enable them cope with the frightening high inflation rate that had drastically increased cost of living on a day to day basis.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is already upscaling solid infrastructure development in the state, as can be seen from the flyovers and road expansion projects in Warri, Uvwie, Enerhen, Effurun and environ, as well as Ika North East, Ika South, respectively.

“The design of Warri Stadium will soon be ready, and governor Oborevwori assured Deltans that upon completion, the stadium shall become a world class sports facility that would provide better opportunities for socioeconomic and sports development in Warri, and by extension, Delta State, which would also transform Osubi Airport to a major air transportation hub in the country due to expected regular national and international sports events.

“Construction of educational infrastructure is ongoing in some schools and institutions of higher learning in the state, more particularly the construction of the Faculties of Engineering, Environmental Sciences and College of Health Sciences at the University of Delta, Owa-Alero and Agbor campuses.

“The ongoing solid roads infrastructure projects in Delta North senatorial district, especially the 11.5 Kilometer Ute-Okpu, Ute-Elugu road, construction of Ute-Erumu-Idumesah road, construction of Ite-Ogbeke-Otolokpo road and the construction of Mission road, Akumazi-Umuocha road, among others, are also near completion and due for commissioning in the near future.

“One of the major focus of this administration is to spread development to the three Senatorial districts and across all sectors, to include but not limited to; infrastructure, women empowerment, job and wealth creation, so as to bring about a peaceful and economically viable state through the instrumentality of governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda that is now being implemented to Advance Delta,” Oghenesivbe assured.

When Akpowowo Hosted His Constituents

By Anthony Arugba

Last Saturday did not pass on as an ordinary day in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government but ended as one to remember. And on that faithful day, the constituents’ two clans- Abraka and Agbon Clan, converged to celebrate an illustrious son. The auspicious event was scheduled to have held in January, but due to unforeseen circumstances it held on Saturday March 3, 2023. Despite the early morning cold weather which felt as though Eku community was sharing boundary with an ice land, the leaders and constituents still came out in their large numbers to wine and dine with Akpowowo. The event was scheduled for 9:00 am but started at exactly 11:45 am.

The ceremony was one of a kind for some reasons. First, it afforded the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly and Member representing Ethiope East, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, the opportunity to thank his party leaders, elders and members as well as constituents of the LGA for the mandate they gave to him during the March 18, 2023, House of Assembly election. And that mandate was phenomenal as it broke the jinx of dominance by the opposition party led by the hitherto formidable Great Ovedje Ogboru, who eventually capitulated to the victory of the current governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewovri.

The last time the party won an election in Ethiope East, was in 2011 when Rt. Hon. Akpomedaye Emeyese won the House of Representatives seat. Since that victory, the opposition ran rough shot on the party, making light work of it at every election. The party was kept in abeyance in Ethiope East for the better part of 12 years. In fact, at the sound of election, there was this seeming apprehension among party members due to the vice-grip hold of the opposition.

However, all that horrifying experience of electoral losses came to a screeching halt, owing to providence and the political wizardry of Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, Director of Protocol Government House, Hon. Chief Sunday Onoriode, PDP Chairman in Ethiope East, Hon. Felix Erhimedafe, Rt. Hon. Akpomedaye Emeyese, LG chairman, Pharm Victor Ofobrukueta and other party genius at the 2023 House of Assembly and governorship elections.

They came together and came up with a blue print on how to break free from the strangulation hold of the opposition, leading to a dominant victory. The party won nine out of the 11 wards in Ethiope East.

Therefore, at the residence of Rt. Hon Akpowowo, they had one singular thing in mind, which is to celebrate the growing unity amongst PDP members and emerging consolidation of the party as occupants of the state assembly seat that has eluded the party for over 12 years.

This, of course, forms the plank of the address of the host, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Member representing Ethiope East Constituency when he harped on the need for all to remain united to consolidate on the path of victory that led to his emergence as member representing Ethiope East Constituency and subsequently as Deputy Speaker of the State Legislature even as a first timer.

When the handsome, broad shouldered with intimidating height Akpowowo approached the centre stage to deliver his speech, the constituents went into frenzy. There were repeated wild chants of ‘Osu’! ‘Osu’! Osu! As the speech commenced, the chants became rapturous while he pleaded for silence wearing a fine smile enchanting enough to disarm an enemy combatant.

The love towards Akpowowo is unarguably true. The same love and admiration lawn tennis fans have for Roger Federer, who played tennis with elegance and made it look like art. Same way golf fans love the legendary and iconic Tiger Woods, who has 15 majors title to his name.

Akpwowo has this enchanting personality, little wonder his peers at the Delta State House of Assembly voted for him as the Deputy Speaker. In the history of the Delta State House of Assembly, there was never a time that a first timer held the position of Deputy Speaker.

For Akpowowo’s peers to have nominated and elected him, a first-timer at the House of Assembly as their deputy speaker, it means there must be something spectacular about his personal character and ability to accommodate his colleagues.

Today, countless numbers of employment letters have been handed over to qualified constituents in various sectors such as lecturing, teaching, health and other government Parastatal and Agencies all thanks to Akpowowo who made it possible.

Of course, It’s no longer news that the Office of the Deputy Speaker has facilitated political appointments into various government offices, within and across his Constituency.

He is currently delivering purposeful representation to the people and it will only get better because he has not only shown promise, but also matched words with action barely seven months as Ethiope East representative.

There is breath of fresh air in Ethiope East! The party not only won the election in convincing fashion, it also broke the bone of the opposition.

PDP is back to winning ways in the local government and the bond of unity stronger than ever. Going forward, they will approach the 2027 election with confidence, renewed vigor and testimony of robust representation by Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo.

The highlight of the event was a motion moved for a vote of confidence on Governor Oborevwori, by a former member of the House of Representatives for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Akpodiogaga Emeyese, and seconded by Chief Midwest Omo West, for the governor’s exemplary good governance strides and unbiased leadership style.

Education Is Not A Scam, A Credible Tool For Fulfilling Destiny – Oghenesivbe

…Says Delta Orientation Bureau committed to promoting civic responsibilities, moral values

Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation Bureau, Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe has again corrected the wrong notion of education is a scam, saying that formal education remained an integral part of nation building, and that it enhances fulfillment of individual destiny irrespective of religion, tribe, colour or ethnic nationality.

He said some criminal minded youths who are neck deep into advance fee fraud and blood money rituals crafted the “education nah scam” slogan with the primary objective of recruiting gullible youth, students, innocent and law abiding citizens into their criminal networks, adding that the governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has charged the Bureau to fast track sensitization campaigns on the numerous advantages of education and the life time negative effects of illiteracy, intellectual laziness and quest for ill-gotten wealth without a corresponding legitimate labour or services.

Oghenesivbe who was a guest of a national radio public affairs programme on Sunday in Lagos, disclosed that the government of Delta State through the Ministry of Youth Development is putting finishing touches on the master plan of a multi-billion Naira Youth Resource and Development Centre with state of the art facilities, uninterrupted IPP power supply, expansive accommodation and skills acquisition faculties that would empower, mentor and enhance entrepreneural potentials of large number of youths from the 270 Ward across twenty five local government areas in the state.

He said governor Oborevwori of Delta State, adequately captured youth between 18 and 35 years in his MORE agenda and has commence implementation as can be seen from the numerous appointment of some qualified youths serving as Commissioners and others in various capacities; pointing out that the proposed mega youth resource and development centre which is to be constructed, equipped and operated on a Public Private Partnership arrangement would effectively serve as a meeting point for all youths across the state who are determined to workout a colourful destiny in life.

Oghenesivbe who is also the Executive Assistant on Communications to governor Oborevwori, assured that the state government will continue to invest substantially in technical education, vocational training, multifaceted skills acquisition, job and wealth creation that guarantees prosperity and socioeconomic well-being of all Deltans.

He called on youth in the state and across Nigeria, to shun cultism, intellectual laziness, criminality, idleness, and focus on acquiring sound education, skills and talent development so as to fulfil destiny, pointing out that nonavailability of white collar job is not a legitimate and acceptable reason to become semi-illiterate or school drop-outs.

“The governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is a youth friendly governor, and he’s determined to do whatever it takes lawfully and strategically to eradicate negative notion on education designed to mislead our youths from the positive path of intellectual advancement through formal education.

“The negative slogan ‘Education nah scam’ obviously came from the pit of hell, and its spreading like wild fire across the country. The spread is so infectious to the extent that the number of school drop-outs is increasing across the country. Governments at all levels must join efforts to fight this anti development trend.

“In Delta State, the infamous Yahoo and blood money rituals syndrome is fast declining and fading away for good, because the good governance strides of governor Oborevwori, especially in the area of youth mobilization and reorientation towards meaningful development, and the joint efforts of law enforcement agents who are daily tracking unwholesome criminal activities of fraudsters, illicit drugs dealers and sellers collaborating in multifaceted ways to project school nah scam negative notion.

“The MORE agenda of the governor adequately captured the youth. Reasonable number of youths were appointed as Commissioner and into various positions in fulfilment of Oborevwori’s electioneering campaigns promises, and due to his passion to adequately develop youth of Delta State.

“The state government through the Ministry of Youth Development is putting finishing touches on the master plan for the construction of a mega multi-billion Naira Youth Resource and Development Center under public-private partnership arrangement. This unique facility upon completion shall pride itself as the largest and most fascinating youth centre in Nigeria and sub-sahara Africa, another plus for governor Oborevwori administration.

“When completed, the facility would periodically recruit five youths from 270 ward across the twenty five local government areas in the state for vocational training and skills acquisition programmes.

“The Youth Resource and Development Centre (YRDC) is going to take thousands of our youths from the streets, and from the already congested national labour market occasioned by the harsh economic policies of the APC federal government,” Oghenesivbe assured.

Onicha-Olona Christian Community, Well-Wishers Celebrate Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei’s Birthday In Grand Style

Onicha-Olona, a town in Aniocha North Local Government Area in Delta State, on Saturday February 10, 2024, stood still for Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei as she marked her birthday. Dr. Ochei, a philanthropist, scholar and wife of Major General Raymond Nkemakonam Ochei, an illustrious son of the town, brought together, well-wishers and Christians from different denominations for a special birthday of praises, prayers and thanksgiving. It was a day like no other, and it will remain an unforgettable experience for everyone who participated in the uncommon fellowship.

The which started with songs of praise, prayers, and thanksgiving culminated with testimonies about a great life that continues to touch lives in different ways. From the points of view of a sizeable number of priests and pastors who spoke eloquently about Dr. Ochei’s compassion, good deeds, and friendly disposition, the celebrant has clearly surpassed expectations as a wife, sister, and mother. So, they offered prayers and supplications to God Almighty for her wellbeing, that of her family, and also for supporters of her vision. For everyone present who spoke, Dr. Ochei remains a blessing, not only to the people of Onicha-Olona, her husband’s hometown, but also to humanity for her great determination to change the world with love, creativity, courage and philanthropy

Reverend Solomon Ifeme, who led the opening prayer after a hard-hitting and soul-lifting praise and worship, prayed for Nigeria and Onicha-Olona. He also prayed for the poor and vulnerable people, two disadvantaged groups that Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei has dedicated her entire life to helping because of the challenges they face. Additionally, the reverend gentleman asked God to continue to protect and guard the entire Ochei family for what they are doing to better life and society.

Similarly, another cleric, Bishop Solomon Monye, told the gathering that Dr. Ochei deserved high praise for her single-minded approach to humanitarianism and the concerns of our common humanity. “Today, we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei. It is a thanksgiving for the activities of a great woman of substance. And I am happy to say that we have taken her matter to God Almighty. The fact that she also decided to invite believers to her house on a day like this shows her hope and trust in God. But we can not fail to thank her mother who bore the pains of childbirth many years ago, and also her people for giving the world such an angel in human form”.

While Pastor Stephen Ezeoha, on his part, asked God to satisfy the celebrant and her family with long life, Venerable Joel Mordi, on the other hand, prayed for divine direction. “We pray for divine direction for this daughter, sister, wife, mother, and philanthropist who is helping others in many ways. But as we pray for divine direction; let us also ask God to give her clarity and understanding in all her steps. Lord, in these days of uncertainties, grant your daughter direction to follow you and to do your will all the days of her life”.
The prayer, praise, and thanksgiving service also asked God to add more grace to the celebrant’s life by taking her beyond where she is at the moment.

Indeed, it was a day of personal testimonies by those who have encountered Dr. Ochei’s generosity and humanity at very close quarters. They were all full of praises for her service, both to Onicha-Olona people and others who come in contact with her. Okey Aligbe, former President-General of Onicha-Olona Development Union, (OODU), praised the celebrant lavishly for being an exemplary wife whose dedication to everything good, is worthy of emulation. “It is a remarkable day for us. However, my regret is that we could not bring Dr. Doris physically to Onicha-Olona on this day. But all the same, we are still happy to be celebrating. My wish for her is more greatness on all fronts. I also wish her more impactful life and many more years ahead in good health and happiness. She is a heroine with a heart of gold, an amazing woman”. Relatedly, Patrick Ejidoh, current President-General of OODU, also praised Ochei for initiating laudable projects and following through to completion in the community and even beyond. “It is a glorious day. I hope you heard the moving testimonies and the impressive attendance. Everyone is happy because she has remained consistent with her demonstration of love and commitment to delivering quality projects. Can you see our brand-new market, the access road, her scholarship programme, and her other projects that have a strong and lasting effect on the people? We pray she continues to be in good health and happiness in all that she does”.

Godfrey Osakwe, Chairman, Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR who was also in attendance expressed satisfaction over the appreciative nature of Onicha-Olona people and many others who came to felicitate with the Ocheis and their remarkable wife. “I was here on December 26, 2023, for Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei’s annual Childrens’ Party, where she empowered many young people. For those who were not lucky to receive scholarships, they went home with over two thousand school bags, hundreds of gift items, and a heart full of gratitude. For me, what I witnessed today is a testimony to the fact that the celebrant and Doris Amaka Ochei Foundation, her non-profit organization, are doing a lot of work. They continue to impact lives positively, and people are happy for all these good deeds that will surely live forever”.

The prayer and praise get-together, which was held under the auspices of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Onicha-Olona chapter, attracted Priests, Pastors, and other religious leaders from far and near. Those in attendance included Rev. Essien Peter, Rev. Caleb Chibua, Venerable Joel Mordi, Evangelist Ibe Emeka, Rev. Iyama Christopher, Bishop Solomon Monye, Bishop Felix Ndubueze, Pastor Andrew Akabuno, Rev. Peter Bakunye, Pastor George Oseghale, Pastor Stephen Ezeocha, Pastor Joshua Johnson, Rev Solomon Ifeme, Rev Adeyemi Williams, Evangelist Charity Anayo, Pastor Darlington Ochei and Rev. Dr. Sidney Ochei.

Oborevwori’s Proposed World Class Warri Stadium, N15.7B Flood Control, Okan-Agbarho East-West Road Mega Projects

By Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq

MORE for Deltans is now a reality, it’s tangible, it can be touched physically in terms of ongoing projects spread around the three senatorial districts; Central, North and South in Delta State.

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, being a responsible corporate citizen is alive to her contractual obligations haven been paid twenty percent of contract sum of N78billion, and has since mobilized to site. The projects are already creating jobs and wealth for both skilled and unskilled workers, food vendors and suppliers.

The state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is not resting on his oars, and the reason is not far fetched; he’s determined to fulfil his electioneering campaigns promises sumed up in his determination to Advance Delta through meaningful development, opportunity for all Deltans, realistic reforms, enhanced peace and security.

Apart from the ongoing N78billion flyovers, road expansion and pedestrian bridges at DSC Roundabout, PTI junction, Effurun Roundabout and Enerhen junction up to Marine Gate mega projects, for which Julius Berger had commenced project execution, governor Oborevwori recently approved the sum of N15.7billion for flood control, tagged Phase 3 of the Warri, Uvwie and Effurun environs.

The project will cover flood control in strategic areas in Warri South and Uvwie local government areas, more particularly at Airport road, Igborikoko, Bendel Estate and Ugboroke. Residents in these areas of Uvwie and Warri South LGAs can best appreciate the good governance strides of governor Oborevwori, because of the negative impacts of flooding that had ravaged their properties and other valuables spanning several decades unending.

The solution is here through the instrumentality of MORE agenda and the pragmatic leadership of our excessive local content governor. There are more to come the way of Delta residents across the 25 local government areas of the state.

Our government said he would double efforts in spreading development, create jobs and wealth that would eradicate or drastically minimize acute hardship faced by the people occasioned by the anti people economic policies and programmes of the federal government.

Last week, governor Oborevwori disclosed plans to upgrade Warri Stadium to a world class sports facility. As we already know, the governor matches words with actions, and does not procrastinate. He disclosed that the design of the Warri mega stadium is ongoing and that contract shall be awarded thereafter.

It will be safe to assert that governor Oborevwori will award the Warri Stadium contract to a competent contractor that would deliver according to standards and specifications in line with his administration zero tolerance for substandard jobs.

Let me also remind us that CCECC Nigeria Ltd, is working round the clock to deliver on a mega drainage channel in Owa-Alero, Owa-Alizomor and Owa-Odie to empty flood water into Iyi-Amah stream in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state.

This gigantic project, when completed, would convey flood water into the underground channels and empty same into the streams, which is another landmark achievement in government deliberate efforts to solve erosion problems in the area.

This huge channel shall also pave the way for further development that would translate to economic and environment protection gains for government and the people. Governor Oborevwori is monitoring progress of work and the project shall be delivered for commissioning within time.

It is also fresh in our individual memory that governor Oborevwori administration is also constructing the road from Okan junction to Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state. The project will link the East-West road. The beauty of this ongoing project is that upon completion motorists from Benin and heading to Ughelli or Port Harcourt would completely avoid Effurun roundabout traffic via the East-West route to their destinations.

Governor Oborevwori assured that this project would further solve traffic congestions by gaining time wasted on traffic by road users who are in a hurry to meet important business appointments or those travelling from Benin axis to attend functions and social events in Port Harcourt, Ughelli and environs.

Here is the deal. You voted for good governance and prudent use of your state resources to advance the socioeconomic and infrastructure development of Delta State, and that’s what you are getting right now, and counting.

More to come, join hands with governor Oborevwori to advance Delta.
