… As Youth Commissioner calls For Unity, Dedication
Delta State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) Mr Olusegun Alao has appealed to the governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to help fulfil his promise to the scheme.
Alao made the appeal during swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch B, Stream 2 orientation course for Corps members deployed to the state, at the camp ground in Issele Uku.
He requested that the governor as earlier promised, provide them with a new 150kva diesel generator and the perimeter fencing of the camp.
Expressing appreciation to the state governor, for his continue support to the scheme, Mr Alao said a positive response to their plea would help safe guard the huge government investment in the camp.
While congratulating the 1546 prospective Corps members were registered to be sworn in as members National Youth Service Corps, on their successful graduation from their various institutions of learning , he enjoined them to make the best out of the orientation programme.
According to the state Coordinator, the orientation will prepare them for all the other stages of the one year service and the associated task ahead.
He added that the three weeks programme will inculcate national ideals in the Corp members as well as equipping them with basic enterpreneurship skills for the challenges after the service year.
He said that a quick adjustment have been made by the prospective Corp members to the demand of the course so far, and crave that the tempo be sustained.
He also urged the employers who have not formalized their request to do so and be available to pick up their Corp members when the orientation is concluded.
The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner of Youth Development, Barr. ThankGod Trakiriowei called for unity, commitment and hard work to help in development.
He said their call to service was a call for sacrifice, dedication perseverance, humility, hence the need for them to be diligent in all they are assigned to do.
He said the service year is dependent on the foundation lay down during their orientation exercises.
The Commissioner added that the knowledge they aquire in camp will be catalyst for their purposeful future endeavors.
He charged them as potential leaders to be absolutely committed to the orientation programme to assist and equip themselves towards self employment and not job seekers.
Trakiriowei assured them of their welfare, as hospitality is what the state is known for.
