…As State awareness committee for enlistment intensify efforts
Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman, Awareness Creation Committee for Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services in Delta State, Barr Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod, has said that more youths are being enlisted into the armed forces and paramilitary services through the Nigerian Defence Academy, Direct Short Service and regular recruits Intake.
He made the disclosure on Monday in Asaba, when he received in audience, one of the recently commissioned officers of the Nigerian Army, and Field Engineer Regiment, Topo Badagry Lagos State, Second Lieutenant Oghenekohwo Omarayen, in his office, saying that the visit will mo doubt inspire more youths to enlist into the Armed forces.
The Committee Chairman, said the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is monitoring the activities of the Military and Paramilitary Enlistment Committee through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, so as to ensure that more qualified Delta Youths are encouraged to make the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, as their first choice in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB examination.
He disclosed that his committee had intensified media awareness and sensitization campaigns in collaboration with Traditional Rulers, Local Government Council Chairmen, State Chapter of the National Youth Council, Faith-Based organisations and Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, noting that significant progress had been achieved in upscaling the number of Delta youths recruited into the Armed forces.
The State Commissioner for Youth Development assured that efforts shall be intensified to increase numbers of intake in the armed forces, the Nigerian Police Force, DSS, Customs & Exercise, Immigration and other paramilitary services.
“The awareness committee for military and paramilitary Enlistment is doing a great job, and the progress made so far shall be built upon in compliance with the firm directive of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
“We are very happy that you came visiting. We are planning a role model’s day. The committee shall invite young officers like you to speak to our youths, male and female, in colleges and institutions of higher learning to take up career in the military,” He said.
In the same vein, the Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, said governor Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to ensuring that all slots allocated to the State are fully taken by qualified and eligible Youths.
He stated that career in the armed forces and paramilitary services provides full time and pensionable employments, while regular recruits can also further their education where applicable, and all fees and expenses fully paid by the military.
The Bureau DG, urged Delta Youths to apply online, free of charge, in the ongoing Nigerian Army 88th Regular Recruit Intake by logging on to; https://recruitment.army.mil.ng to fill and submit application forms online.
Earlier, Second Lieutenant Oghenekohwo Omarayen, a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, who was recently commissioned as Officer of the Nigerian Army, thanked the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for his kind assistance to students of Delta State origin at the NDA, while appealing to youths in the state to take advantage of the various recruitments into the armed forces and paramilitary services, as well as to seek admission into the NDA via JAMB.
Officer Omarayen shared his experiences, saying that career in the military is a worthy one, affording eligible citizens the opportunity to serve our beloved country, Nigeria
