…Chief Oguma inducted into CIISM Distinguished Fellows Hall Of Fame
The Chairman of Obakpor Engineering Limited, Chief John Oguma, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for his invaluable contributions to the growth and expansion of operational capabilities of indigenous construction companies in the state.
Chief Oguma gave the commendation on Wednesday at the presentation of the “Best Indigenous Construction Company Award” to Obakpor Engineering Limited, in Asaba, noting that the local content policy encapsulated in the MORE Agenda of the state governor, has created thousands of jobs for skilled and unskilled workers at construction sites, as well as consistent wealth creation for suppliers and food vendors.
Chief Oguma who was represented at the Award presentation by a Senior Management Staff of the construction company, Chief John Ewenede, said since inception in 1991, Obakpor Engineering has improved on its quality service delivery, as can be seen in the quality of work at the ongoing construction of the 500 meters Orere bridge, connecting several communities in Ughelli South and Bomadi local government areas of the state.
He disclosed that the pre-fabricated slabs produced with modern technology meets international standard, assuring that Obakpor Engineering would sustain modern engineering practices in the construction of roads and bridges across the state and beyond.
“Obakpor Engineering commends Governor Oborevwori’s unwavering commitment to the growth and the expansion of operational capabilities of indigenous construction companies through the state government’s huge patronage, while also leveraging on the hitec potentials of multinational construction companies like Julius Berger Nigeria PLC and the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
“We have improved tremendously over the years, about 34 years and still counting. Obakpor Engineering is the major indigenous construction firm in Delta State, and with our modern technology and hitec equipment, we are able to produce standard pre-fabricated slabs,” he said.
Earlier, the President of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), Ambassador Dr (Mrs) Temile Uduogho Oritseweyinmi, described Obakpor Engineering Limited, as a foremost construction company with over 34 years of professional expertise in bridge and road construction in Delta State, and beyond.
She disclosed that after extensive fact checking of the performances of all indigenous construction companies in Delta State, Obakpor Engineering Limited emerged as the “Best Indigenous Construction Company 2025” while urging the leadership of the company not to relent in its efforts to sustain the high standard it had attained.
In the same vein, the CIISM President and Chairman of the Governing Council, assisted by the Institute’s Registrar, Dr Adelanke Oyintoke, inducted the Chairman of Obakpor Engineering Ltd, Chief John Oguma, as a “Distinguished Fellow” of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy, in recognition of his visionary leadership and invaluable contributions to Corporate Governance in Nigeria.
The Awards and Induction ceremony marked the end of the three days capacity building workshop with the Theme “Strategic communication in the Digital Age: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Digital tools for effective leadership,” jointly organized by the Delta State Government through the State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, and the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), tagged DELCOM 2025.
154 participants attend the workshop drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the State Government, NDLEA, the Police Force, as well as political appointees, government media partners, Journalists, selected social media influencers, and online publishers.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori flagged off the Workshop on Monday 6th October, while the closing ceremony was performed by a former Secretary to the State Government and Director General of the Delta State Capital Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, fnipr, at Hotel Benizia Asaba.
