Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been hailed as a God-appointed leader whose people-focused style of governance and commitment to building strong institutions are shaping a sustainable and future-ready Delta State.
The praise was delivered by the Parish Priest of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, Rev. Fr. Peter Awharemuire, during the 70th Thanksgiving Mass of Lady Doris Onoriode Ejinyere, which the Governor attended as a special guest.
In a homily drawn from Jeremiah chapter 29 verses 10–14, the priest described Governor Oborevwori’s rise to leadership as divinely orchestrated, stressing that it was neither by chance nor coincidence but part of God’s ordained purpose.
He noted that the steady progress being witnessed in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and community development reflected purposeful leadership guided by divine direction.
According to him, public confidence has been renewed, communities are becoming safer and lives are better protected, developments he said were clear outcomes of intentional and focused governance rather than mere happenstance.
Rev. Fr. Awharemuire emphasized that the Oborevwori administration stands apart for its focus on sustainability, explaining that the Governor is not only delivering physical projects but also strengthening systems that will endure.
He said the administration’s efforts go beyond roads, bridges, schools and hospitals to include the deliberate development of lasting structures in governance, security and education, describing this approach as the foundation of a “new Delta State.”
The priest added that the transformation underway was designed to serve not just the present population but future generations of Deltans.
Describing the Governor as a courageous leader, he said the administration’s accomplishments had already earned it a permanent place in the political history of the state, noting that history would long remember his contributions.
He further stated that both the Church and the people of Delta State take pride in Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, which he said is marked by humility, justice, inclusiveness and a genuine spirit of service.
While commending the Governor’s achievements, the cleric urged him to continue to govern with wisdom, humility and caution, assuring him of the Church’s continued prayers for peace and divine guidance in the state.
He also prayed for the celebrant, Lady Doris Ejinyere, whom he described as a woman of fairness, integrity and sound judgment.
In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori congratulated Lady Ejinyere on her 70th birthday, praising her as a woman of strong character, integrity and unwavering dedication to her family and service to society.
He spoke warmly of his long-standing relationship with her, describing her as principled, dependable and firm, with a firmness rooted in sincerity and love.
The Governor expressed happiness at the unity displayed by the Ejinyere family during the thanksgiving, noting that it highlighted the strength of faith and enduring family values.
He prayed for her continued good health, long life, peace and divine blessings, while acknowledging her sacrifices and lifelong commitment to her family and community.
Speaking at the event, Lady Ejinyere expressed heartfelt appreciation to her family, friends and well-wishers for their support over the years.
She also praised Governor Oborevwori, stating that his achievements were so visible that “even the blind can see them and the deaf can hear them,” and commended his compassion, sacrifices and consistent support to her family.
