Youths in Delta State have been tasked to get involved in the process of governance.
The global President, Ready to Lead Africa, Mr Godbless Otobore gave the advise during the training of representatives from the Delta North Senatorial district in Asaba, the state capital.
Otobore said their impact in monitoring the activities of political leader would help being about a credible and transparent system of government.
He urged the youths to get involved in the process of supporting what was going on in their various communities, as it would help ensure that what was promised by government is been done well.
Otobore said the tools given to the beneficiaries which was developed using technology, would help them to be part of the governance process through the public performance monitoring system.
He urged the trainees to do more accountability work on the elected leaders as democracy was not about voting them into power.
He promised to support credible government policies that were necessary in the development of the people and ensure that the young trainees were doing the works in their communities as championed.
On his part, a youth development expert, Comrade Collins Okonkwo while delivering a lecture on the topic, Public Monitoring System: the role of the youth, admonished the youths to help boost overall productivity in governance space.
Okonkwo also encouraged them to always track government policies so as to increase transparency and accountability in governance.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after the training, one of the trainee, Mr Ogundeji Olayinka Joseph said he has learnt not to use violence as a means of speaking the minds of the people.Another trainee, Miss Enochusi Fortunate said she has been equipped with the understanding that it takes the youth involvement in governance for the voice of the masses to be heard.
