…As Okwe Charges them on inclusivity and unity

On August 30th, 2024, Sir Peter Okwe, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Aniocha South Local Government Area, performed the inauguration ceremony for new ward chairmen of the party. The event marked a significant milestone in the party’s efforts to reorganize and strengthen its grassroots presence.
Notable party leaders in attendance included the immediate past party chairman, Prince Mike Okwufulueze, Executive Council Chairman, Hon Pst Jude JC Jude Chukwunwike represented by the incoming SLG, Prince Tony Ebube aka Kelebe, Deputy Chairman of the Council, Hon Patricia Adolue, the Vice Chairman of PDP in Aniocha South, Mrs Odimegwu, onetime Women leader, Madam Rose Achapu aka Rogo, amongst others.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Sir Okwe delivered a remarkable speech, urging the ward chairmen to be good ambassadors for the local government and to embrace their roles as leaders of the party. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity, urging them to put aside past differences and work together to promote the party’s interests.
Sir Okwe charged the ward chairmen to establish contact with all elected and appointed politicians in their respective wards, with the goal of discussing strategies for advancing the party’s goals in the local government. He encouraged them to build strong relationships with stakeholders and to work collaboratively to address the needs of their constituents.
Throughout his address, Sir Okwe’s words were met with frequent interruptions of thunderous applause from the audience, who were visibly impressed by his leadership and vision. His speech was characterized by its emphasis on unity, inclusivity, and collective action.

The ward inauguration ceremony was momentarily transformed into a joyous celebration as the immediate past party chairman, Prince Mike Okwufulueze, was recognized for his exceptional leadership and dedication to the PDP in Aniocha South. The audience erupted into a standing ovation, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to the party’s growth and success during his tenure.
Sir Peter Okwe, the new party chairman, seized the opportunity to wish Prince Okwufulueze a belated happy birthday, noting that the party had been unable to attend his recent birthday celebration due to a lack of invitation. This heartfelt gesture sparked a spontaneous outburst of song, as the entire gathering rose to their feet to sing a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” in honor of the beloved former chairman.
Visibly moved by the affection and appreciation, Prince Okwufulueze beamed with joy, his face radiating gratitude and warmth.
In his response, he offered words of wisdom, urging the party faithful to embrace the values of unity, inclusivity, and brotherly love. “Let us be our brother’s keeper,” he admonished, “and carry everyone along, for we are one united party.
As the ceremony resumed, the atmosphere remained electric, infused with a renewed sense of camaraderie and purpose. The ward chairmen, inspired by the display of unity and goodwill, pledged to work tirelessly to strengthen the party’s presence in their respective wards, building on the foundations laid by their predecessors.
The event culminated in a group photo session, where the newly inaugurated ward chairmen, party leaders, and Sir Okwe’s exco posed for pictures, beaming with joy and excitement. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone in high spirits as they left the venue, eager to embark on their new roles and responsibilities.
