…Urges Contractors To Expedite Action On Jobs
By the Media Dept of WUEDA
The contractors handling various road and flood control projects in Warri and Effurun metropolis have been urged to increase the pace of work to enable them deliver their jobs within specified time frames.
The Director General of Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Devt Agency, (WUEDA). Hon. Prince Godwin Ejinyere gave the charge on Tuesday when he led a team of WUEDA engineers on an unscheduled inspection visit to some Govt projects under the supervision of the Agency.
At the 700-meter long Ejirue Street, Ekpan, Prince Ejinyere expressed satisfaction with the level and standard of work done but told the contractor handling the project, Cromwell Technologies Ltd, to ensure the project was completed in three months time.
He said “the Governor has zero tolerance for shoddy and delayed jobs,” asking him to use every available window to complete the project in record time, and de-silt the existing but blocked drains on completion of the job.
Responding, the Project Engineer of Cromwell Technologies, Engr. Martins Chukwunta, said the Ejirue Road project would be delivered at the end of February, 2025, as the community youth body was supportive, and all necessary materials and men were in place.
Thereafter, Ejinyere and his team visited the Ogbe Avenue Road extension, and were glad to see that the asphalt overlay had been completed. He urged motorists to “use it as a link road between PTI Road and DSC roundabout area of Effurun, to bypass PTI junction where a heavy flyover project is currently ongoing.”
Some residents and mechanics in that area thanked Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for constructing the Ogbe Avenue Road and its extension, adding that “life and business in the area are now meaningful,” and prayed for the Governor’s success in office.
Ope Street off Lower Erejuwa Street Warri was the next port of call for Prince Godwin Ejinyere and his team, who were received by residents of the area, led by Coach Obire. The people thanked Governor Oborevwori and WUEDA for the road-and-flood-control project on Ope Street, which they said had now assumed the status of a GRA.
The WUEDA DG urged the residents to clear their drains regularly so that water could flow in them freely, and commended the contractor for a job well done, asphalting and marking the road, thereby beautifying it.
The Ejinyere-led team also inspected the ongoing bridge project across the Warri canal, that will connect Agbasa and Daudu communities in Warri, a project that no one ever imagined in such an obscure place except WUEDA, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his More Agenda.
Prince Ejinyere said when completed, the bridge would serve as an access road for residents of Agbasa and Daudu areas of Warri, demystifying the security situation in that area, making it more accessible.
At Stadium Road, Warri, Hon. Ejinyere told the contractor, Levant Construction Company to back-fill the completed drains, lay asphalt where not done yet, dress the culvert according to standard, cover the manhole on the culvert with concrete slabs, re-open the canal, and de-silt existing drains for free flow of flood water in and around the stadium.
WUEDA’s Director of Project and Works, Engr. Bemigho Ofoeyeno was amongst the Agency’s civil engineers that accompanied Prince Godwin Ejinyere on the inspection visit.
