The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, has warned pastors and gospel ministers against telling lies to grow or sustain their ministries.
He gave this warning on Sunday during the final day of the church’s 21-day fasting and prayer programme at Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.
Speaking during the third service, Bishop Oyedepo said lying has no place in true Christian ministry.
“You will not last in ministry if you tell lies,” he said.
“I stand before God and I will never lie about what God did not do just to impress people.”
He explained that ministers must remain faithful to the truth of the Bible and always give glory to God. According to him, this is the key to lasting success in ministry.
“Holding firmly to the truth of the Scriptures and boasting only in the Lord is what makes you rise to great heights,” he said.
The bishop also encouraged believers to keep their love for Jesus strong, adding that complete dependence on God brings victory in life.
“To experience restoration, keep your love for Jesus alive. Allow God to lead you and He will defeat your enemies. Whatever you need in life, Jesus is more than enough,” he said.2
Oyedepo shared a personal experience, recalling how someone close to him in Ile-Ife was healed of insanity after listening to the reading of the Bible.
“A close person to me in Ife once became insane. I asked that Psalms be read to him. As he listened, the insanity disappeared,” he said.
