In what may be referred to as a family interactive session where heartfelt feelings and solutions to issues were raised, party faithfuls have been reminded of their responsibility in strengthening The People’s Democratic Party in Oshimili South local government area of Delta State.
Ogbueshi Chike Ifesiokwu who is the PDP Chairman, called on elected and appointed party members to consult widely prior to embarking on projects and supporting the party more regularly in terms of finance. He pointed out the deplorable state of the roads leading to the Council and party Secretariat as projects that ought to be given urgent attention in order to cushion the challenges faced over the years by motorists who ply those roads likewise residents living within and around those neighbourhoods.
Various speakers like Hon. Shedrack Rapu who suggested that temporary measures by the local Council could be taken to address the deplorable state of some roads within the local government and Elder Chukwuma Bielonwu who proferred solutions regarding mediation between the party and the local Council on the way forward were applauded for their contributions.
It was also stated clearly by the leader of the legislative arm of the local government, Rt. Hon. Michael Okonji that some approvals had been granted by the Council Chairman in the person of Hon. Chief Dr. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili for the rehabilitation of some roads but faced challenges of poor banking network issues which has not only delayed such rehabilitation works but also delayed payments of salaries to local government staffs.
A key point of the interactive session was the agreement between elected and appointed party members on the payment of monthly party dues as Ogbueshi Chike Ifesiokwu rounded up the session by stating clearly that he holds no grudge against any member of the party but says things as they are and wants the party to be better placed and prepared well ahead of future elections.
