Renown politician and a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon Taju Isichei, popularly known as Ikuku, has been honoured with the Ogbueshi title.
The chieftaincy title ceremony, took place at his country home in Umuezeafadia village, Umuaji quarters, Asaba.
The Head of the traditional Chiefs in Umuezeafadia, Ogbueshi Chris Onyemenam who was represented by Ogbueshi Patrick Onyemenam said by the conferment of the Ogbueshi also known as Ikpa Alor title on Hon. Isichei, he automatically becomes one of the 70 titled chiefs in Asaba.
Speaking with our reporter on the significance of the title, the Vice Chairman of PDP Ward 5, Ogbueshi Chiedu Nwokolo, said Ikpa Alor was a highly revered event used to recognize illustrious sons in Asaba.
Nwaokolo said with the title, Hon Isichei was qualified to speak in the council of Chiefs who were 50 years and above without fear.
He said the new Chief, was long over due for the title, based on his philanthropic contributions to his people.
Others who spoke were Ogbueshi Ifeanyi Nwaoji, Ogbueshi Chukwuemekalim Isichei, Mrs Ozulonye Okobah and Mr. Chinedu Attoh, urged him to continue in his good works and congratulated him for accepting the title after much conviction adding that he was qualified for it.
The ceremony which had other Ogbueshis in attendance, featured the slaughtering of a large white cow and cultural entertainment by the women group, (umu ada).
Speaking via a telephone call, Ogbueshi Taju Isichei, said the title, Ogbueshi Ikuku Ama N’onya bestowed on him and the Odozi Aku Dia, tile given to his wife would spur him to be of greater service to his village and the Asaba community.
He thanked the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN; the Onihe of Asaba, Obi Ubaka Atu; the Diokpa, leadership and people of Umuezeafadia, Ward 5 Chairman, Ogbueshi Onukwu, his Vice, Ogbueshi Chiedu Nwokolo and members of the Ward for the successful event.
