…Awards Scholarship To One Female Inmate
The convener of Team Iyke 4 PDP, Hon Chukwurah Ikechukwu John has urged well meaning Deltans not to relent in showing love to Internally Displaced Persons in the state.
Chukwurah made the appeal when he led members of the group on a visit to the Ogbeafor Primary School, in Asaba where the inmates were occupying.
Expressing sympathy, Chukurah said there was need for kind hearted people to come to the aid of the inmates who he said had been displaced by flood and loss many of their belongings to the flood.
According to Hon Chukwurah Ikechukwu the act of generosity was not politically inclined, adding that it was the first of it’s kind and promised to revisit the inmates.
On her part the Media Director, Comr. Valerie Opia said there was no better time to show love and care to people, other than when they are truly in need, reasons why they embarked on the visit.
Opia prayed God to provide and protect them even while they were still in the camp which was not their homes.
Speaking, the representative of the camp Commandant, Mr Goodluck Onoriode Odabor, expressed joy and gratitude towards the gesture by the group.
He urged well meaning Nigerians to help in whatever way possible and assured members of the group that the items would be used to care for the 1612 inmates in the camp.
Highlight of the visit was the awarding of scholarship to a little girl in the camp, Miss Asagba Ebube by the philanthropist and a praise and prayer session for the inmates.
