The 47th U.S. President, known for his direct social media style, took to Truth Social on Thursday night to announce the mission. He stated that he had ordered the strikes after warning militants that their actions would have consequences
“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria,” Trump posted. “I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was.”
He further added that the “Department of War” executed “numerous perfect strikes” and ended his message with a characteristic: “MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists.”
