Nov. 4th, 1937 – Dec. 23rd, 2022 (Funeral Farewell: March 31st, 2023).

It has been three years since you took your final bow and were committed to mother earth, dearest Mom. Yet, your presence remains ever strong in our hearts, in our homes, and in the values you so lovingly instilled in us. Time may have passed, but the void you left behind reminds us daily of how truly special you were.

You were born into a disciplined and hardworking family, and from those early years, you embodied resilience, diligence, and grace. Though life presented its challenges – especially with the early loss of your father, you rose above every limitation with strength and quiet determination. You embraced responsibility early, supporting your mother and siblings, and in doing so laid the foundation for the remarkable woman you became.

Mama, you were the true definition of industry and enterprise. From your humble beginnings in tailoring and petty trading, you grew into a woman of substance; resourceful, focused, and visionary. Whether in Kano, Akwukwu-Igbo, or Lagos, you stood tall, supporting your husband and nurturing your family with unwavering commitment. Your hands were never idle; they built, sustained, and uplifted.

Your entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly, especially in your fashion business and later in the food business. “Madam Sharp,” as many fondly called you, was not just a name, it was a testament to excellence, warmth, and unmatched hospitality. Your kitchen was a sanctuary of love, where every meal told a story of care and generosity. From your famous pepper soup to your delicious snail delicacies, you brought joy to countless lives. Beyond the meals, it was your kindness and welcoming spirit that truly nourished souls.

As a wife, you were dependable and supportive; as a mother, firm yet loving; instilling discipline, righteousness, and integrity in us. You raised us not just to succeed, but to be good, compassionate, and God-fearing individuals. Even in moments of deep personal loss, you stood strong, teaching us the power of faith and endurance.

Your life was deeply rooted in service, to your family, your community, and to God. A devoted Christian and committed member of the Anglican Church, you served faithfully as a chorister and a member of the Women’s Guild. Your trust in God never wavered, and your life reflected humility, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Mama, you were a giver to the core. You lived not for yourself alone, but for others, always ready to help, to comfort, and to uplift without expecting anything in return. Truly, no one came into your home without experiencing your generosity.

Though you were not without flaws, as you humbly acknowledged, you continually sought peace, harmony, and growth. That humility made you even more admirable and endeared you to all who knew you.

Today, three years on, we celebrate not just your memory, but your legacy, a legacy of love, strength, service, and faith. You may no longer be physically present, but your spirit lives on in your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all the lives you touched.

To us, your children, you remain our pride, our inspiration, and our shining star. We carry your teachings in our hearts and strive daily to uphold the values you cherished.

We miss you deeply, Mama, but we take solace in the beautiful life you lived and the indelible mark you left behind.

May your gentle and loving soul continue to rest in the bosom of God Almighty until we meet again, where parting will be no more.

Adieu, our sweet and great mother. Adieu, good woman of virtue and valour.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
