The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU),, Asaba Chapter, has described the late Asagba of Asaba, HRM Professor Chike Edozien, as a highly respected Monarch and a father to all Urhobos in the state capital.
The President of the UPU Asaba Chapter, Olorogun Austin Akpede made this known when he led a delegation of the Union on a condolence visit to the palace of the late Monarch in Asaba, Delta State.
In his message, the President of the UPU Asaba Chapter, Olorogun Akpede said the late monarch was a very profound and highly enlightened first class traditional ruler who positively impacted on all areas of human endeavors, noting that history would be very kind to him for his cultural revival and for the bold transformation in some areas of Asaba culture and traditions.
He recounted the various leadership capabilities in which the late Asagba had served within and outside the country, saying that many from all sectors of the economy, including the Urhobos, had enjoyed his leadership style.
Condoling the family of the late Asagba of Asaba, Olorogun Akpede also noted that the Urhobos in Asaba and its environs were proud of the late monarch, he urged them to take solace in the legacies he left behind.
Responding, the eldest son of the late Monarch, Professor Anthony Edozien, who was represented by the third son, Louis Edozien, thanked the UPU Asaba Chapter for the extension of love and solidarity to their family.
Highlight of the visit was the signing of the condolence by Olorogun Akpede on behalf of the UPU delegation.
