. .. As Delta State Agriculture Commissioner Inaugurates State Executives

Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Barrister Perez Omoun has enjoined executive members of GoFarm in the state to work in line with the State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.

Omoun uring the inauguration of the state Executive Committee (Exco) of Gofarm Nigeria Limited at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat off Maryam Babangida Road in Asaba, the state capital.

He said agriculture which was the vision’s of the state governor should be pronoged by the organisation.

The Commissioner urged the newly inaugurated executive members to work with the mission and vision of Gofarm so as to manifest success that would add meaning to the value chain of agriculture in the state.

He called for meaningful engagement with farmers in the state, that will impact positively on the land, adding that if everyone can think towards owning a farm there would be food security in the state.
While assuring them of government collaboration, he said if agriculture must take her rightful of place of providing food security, they must look beyond land use and not land holding.

The Commissioner charged them to roll up their sleeves and walk thier talk, by ensuring that food security becomes mmSpeaking the Grand Patron, Pharmacist Paul Enebeli called for the diversification of the state revenue from oil to state.

Enebeli said the state blessed with so much agricultural product is expected to be a major source of revenue and not oil, hence the need for all hand to be on deck in ensuring that there was so much food sufficiency in the state.

He added that the strength of the country lies in agriculture and that he looks towards how the organization can unite and make the best out of the state rich vast land so that they can give out palliative to people based on cluster.

He urged them to work alongside the Commissioner in ensuring they achieve their visions of food security and changing the narrative of the state from been an oil state to a food producing state.

On her part, the financial secretary, Deaconess Edna Ojieh, thanked the state governor and the Commissioner for thier support towards the organization.

The event featured the presence of representatives from Gofarm Nigeria Limited management team from Benue Edo, Anambra and Imo State.
