In line with the MORE agenda of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the state Commissioner for Youth Development, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac has assured youths of meaningful employment.
Agbateyiniro gave the assurance during his visit to the flag- off ceremony of the 2023 Delta State One Youth One Skill Project (DOYOS) in Umutu, Ukwani Local Government Area.
He said ignoring the youths to remain jobless would pose a great threat to the society, adding that the incessant social vices amongst youth was as a result of their not been engaged.
The Commissioner said the Oborevwori’s administration was ready to take youths out of the street and give them meaningful engagement by bridging the gap of unemployment amongst the youths.
He assured them of partnership with the ministry of Youth Development, adding that it wasn’t about campaign but practical reality of the fact that they deserved to benefit from the state government.
While commending the organizers of the two months free intensive practical base training support scheme, organized by The LUSH CENTER for skills acquisition training, Agbateyiniro added that, government cannot do everything and that they have through their programme been able to take away certain responsibility from the government.
Speaking on the criteria for their empowerment after the training, he said the graduands would be accessed based on the quality of certification.
The Commissioner urged them to ensure they capture all participants for proper identification and categorise them into their various skill, adding that it was from the documentation that they can do data analyzes.
