In pursuit of the creation of Anioma State, a high-powered delegation of Anioma stakeholders, comprising traditional rulers, political leaders, and advocacy groups, embarked on strategic advocacy visits to key leaders of the National Assembly to discuss strengthening consultations and rally legislative support for the proposed state.

The delegation, comprising about 30 eminent personalities including 12 prominent Royal Fathers from Anioma land, the President of Izu Anioma, Dr. Kingsley Ojie, a respected leader of Odu Oma Club of Nigeria, Eze Odu Oha Patrick Ogbogu Okenyi, representatives of the Olu of Warri, members of Igbo solidarity groups, intellectuals, and notable advocates of Anioma State, presented a united front in advancing the demand for Anioma State as the sixth state in the South East geopolitical zone, with Asaba proposed as its capital.

The delegation met with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, where discussions focused on expanding consultations and deepening national support for the Anioma State initiative.

The Deputy Speaker emphasised the need for broader stakeholder engagement, particularly involving women, community leaders, and key actors across the South-East geopolitical zone. He also stressed the importance of sustained public enlightenment to highlight the viability and strategic significance of Anioma State.

The delegation continued its advocacy with a visit to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, where further discussions were held on the constitutional pathway to state creation.

Senator Jibrin commended Senator Ned Nwoko for his resilience and commitment to the Anioma State project, describing the initiative as a legitimate democratic aspiration that deserves national support.

He urged advocacy groups to intensify engagement with state governors across the federation, noting that their support would be crucial in securing the constitutional amendments required for state creation.

Speaking during the engagements, Senator Ned Nwoko reiterated that the Anioma State movement is a collective demand driven by the shared aspirations of the people and not a personal ambition.

“Anioma State is a collective demand, not an individual pursuit. It is a cause that has endured for decades and continues to resonate strongly with our people,” he said.

Furthermore, the traditional rulers and stakeholders who were part of the delegation reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the realisation of Anioma State, emphasising the growing unity among Anioma communities and the increasing national support for the initiative.initiative.
