…As Unit Leadership Vows to Sustain Monthly Cash Palliative Until All 1,300 Registered Members Benefit
The Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Unit 13, Kokori Ward 06, Ethiope East Local Government Area, and Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Barr. Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation, members’ welfare and sustained political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oghenesivbe made the declaration on Sunday, June 28, during a well-attended strategic stakeholders’ meeting of APC Unit 13. The meeting was attended by party leaders, elders, women, youths and supporters to review the unit’s progress, strengthen internal cohesion and consolidate its grassroots structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Addressing members, he said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda continues to deliver visible dividends of democracy across Delta State, citing the completed Okpe Street road construction and asphalt paving, as well as other road projects in the community, as landmark interventions that have positively impacted residents.
He stated that the APC would approach the 2027 general elections on the strength of the performance records of Governor Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the achievements of both administrations would shape political conversations as campaigns commence in 2026.
According to Oghenesivbe, the unprecedented influx of political leaders and supporters into the APC under Governor Oborevwori has significantly strengthened the party’s structure across Delta State, placing it in a commanding position ahead of the next general elections. He, however, urged members not to relent but to sustain grassroots mobilisation and deepen engagement with the electorate.
Recognising the prevailing economic realities and the impact of rising inflation on households, Oghenesivbe announced the commencement of a monthly cash palliative programme for APC Unit 13 members as part of the unit leadership’s welfare initiative. Under the programme, 100 registered members will receive ₦5,000 each at every unit meeting until all 1,300 registered members of the unit have benefited.
He commended Comrade Lucky Emonefe, Okakuro Ufuoma Emonefe, Hon. James Akpojisheri and Chief Erhiga Esohwode for their financial contributions towards the welfare initiative, adding that their collective support had further encouraged him, as Unit Leader, to do more for members at this critical time.
The highpoint of the meeting was the presentation of ₦500,000 to the first batch of 100 beneficiaries. The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the unit leadership, describing the intervention as timely and thoughtful. They noted that the initiative reflects a leadership that understands the economic challenges facing members and is committed to providing practical support during difficult times.
Oghenesivbe assured members that the welfare initiative would be sustained, describing it as a demonstration of compassionate leadership and the APC’s commitment to standing with its members in the face of current economic challenges.
He further disclosed that APC Unit 13 now has approximately 1,300 registered voters following the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration exercise, describing the development as further evidence of the party’s growing popularity and organisational strength in Kokori Ward 06.
Earlier, former APC House of Representatives aspirant for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, said the strategic meeting was convened to consolidate peace, strengthen party unity and deepen grassroots participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He commended the steadfast commitment of party elders, women, youths and members, expressing confidence that their collective efforts would further strengthen the APC and position the party for resounding electoral success.
Emonefe assured members that the unit leadership would continue to do the needful by mobilising resources to expand welfare packages for party members. He expressed confidence that the current economic hardship would gradually ease as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms continue to yield positive results and drive infrastructure development across the country.
Community leaders and elders at the meeting commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the completion of the Okpe Street road project and appreciated Barr. Oghenesivbe for facilitating the intervention. They also appealed to the Delta State Government to extend the road project to the remaining section linking the Kokori-Eku Road and requested employment opportunities for qualified graduates in the community.
The meeting ended on a note of renewed optimism, strengthened unity and collective resolve, with members reaffirming their commitment to expanding the APC’s grassroots support base and working together to secure overwhelming victories for the party in the 2027 general elections.
