Delta State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Title Affairs, Hon. Chief Kelly Penewou, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Hon. (High Chief) Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, PhD, the Ikemba of Ahaba and Oko Kingdom, at the Council Secretariat. The visit, though brief, was significant as it provided an opportunity for the state government to assess firsthand the level of development and ongoing projects within the council area.

The Honourable Commissioner was ably represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Paul Onyeye, who led the delegation on behalf of the Commissioner. Upon arrival, the team was warmly received by the Executive Chairman alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Uso Hobobo, the Secretary of the Council, Supervisors, and members of the Management team.

As part of the visit, the Executive Chairman took the Commissioner’s delegation on a comprehensive inspection tour of key ongoing projects initiated by his administration. The projects showcased a strong commitment to infrastructural development and effective service delivery within Oshimili South.

Among the projects inspected was the construction of the strategic road linking the Direct Labour Agency to the Council Secretariat. This road, once completed, is expected to significantly improve accessibility and ease of movement within the council premises, enhancing productivity and administrative efficiency.

The delegation also visited the newly installed generator plant, a critical infrastructure aimed at ensuring constant power supply within the Secretariat. This development addresses the long-standing challenge of power interruptions and is set to create a more conducive working environment for staff and visitors alike.

A major highlight of the inspection was the gigantic Ultra-Modern Administrative Block, a landmark project that has continued to attract admiration. The structure, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, stands as a testament to the Chairman’s vision for a modern and functional local government system. Its scale and quality have drawn comparisons with the State Secretariat, underscoring the administration’s commitment to excellence and legacy-driven governance.

Speaking during the visit, the Permanent Secretary commended the Chairman for his remarkable strides in infrastructural development and prudent management of resources. He noted that the projects reflect a clear alignment with the state government’s development agenda.

In his response, the Executive Chairman reaffirmed his dedication to delivering impactful projects that will improve the lives of the people of Oshimili South, emphasizing that his administration remains focused on sustainable development and leaving a lasting legacy.
