‎Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been commended for his people oriented policies aimed at improving the welfare and livelihood of Deltans.

‎The Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe Esq, made the commendation during a courtesy visit by the State Coordinator of the National Identification Management Commission, Mrs Grace Obels-Robinson, to his office.

‎Barr Oghenesivbe stated that the National identification Number (NIN), apart from being one of the veritable means of identification in Nigeria, is essential for planning and statistics to promote data collation and social welfare of the people.

‎He lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving mass registration of all unregistered citizens by the National Identification Management Commission in the grassroots which according to him would ensure that all Nigerians are captured ward by ward.

‎While stressing that data collated during the exercise would help the state government for planning purposes, he suggested to the commission to produce cards with codes that contain every details of citizens according to best global practices.

‎He assured the commission that the bureau would collaborate with the state coordinator to work out the modalities on how to sensitize Deltans on the forthcoming NIN registration for all unregistered Deltans beginning from the 19th of January, 2026

‎Earlier, the State Coordinator of the Commission, Mrs. Grace Obels-Robinson, explained that the visit was to seek collaboration with the bureau to sensitize Deltans on the forth coming ward to ward NIN registration exercise.

‎She said the registration would commence on the 19th of January, 2026 for unregistered Deltans only, from 0 years and above.

‎She pointed out that the exercise is scheduled to last for six weeks across all wards in the state.
