The Delta State Government has partnered with Dexteron Engineering Limited to speed up the construction of a 330kV transmission line aimed at improving electricity supply across the state.
The Commissioner for Energy, Michael Anoka, announced the partnership during a meeting with the management of the engineering company in Asaba on Thursday, describing it as a major step toward strengthening Delta’s power infrastructure.
According to Anoka, the project is expected to increase electricity transmission capacity, improve power distribution and provide a more stable electricity supply for residents, businesses and industries across the state.
The administration expressed confidence that the partnership would accelerate ongoing efforts to improve energy access, reduce power outages, and stimulate socio-economic development across Delta State.
Stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward addressing electricity deficits that have long hindered business operations and economic productivity in many parts of the state.
They noted that stable electricity would not only boost manufacturing and commercial activities but also improve healthcare delivery, educational services, and the operations of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
He added that the company’s transmission towers meet international standards after undergoing rigorous testing to ensure durability, efficiency and long-term reliability.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Byron Unini, the Director of Electricity Power Supply, Stanley Efenudu, and other officials.
