Special Adviser to the Delta State governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor, has ascribed peace building as key towards the development of any state or nation.
Uzor stated this during a peace meeting with stakeholders from Uvwie, Okere- Urhobo of Uvwie and Warri South Local Government in Warri.
He said no state can strive towards development in an atmosphere of rancor, hence the need for peaceful coexistence.
While calling for respect of traditional rulers and constituted authorities in any kingdom, the Special Adviser said the state government would not condone any form of disrespect of the leader.
Uzor charged them to settle any disagreement or lingering problems.
The Special Adviser charged the traditional rulers to call together the five constituent heads of the communities so as to ensure peace in the community.
He advised them to withdraw their case in court and reunite so as to show respect to the traditional rulers.
He also appealed to all the youths to move out from their various divides and come under the President General.
On his part the President General of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, and Vice Chairman of all the 24 Urhobo Kingdom, Rev Canon David Otefieyan, expressed satisfaction in the judgement of Chief Uzor, which has helped in fostering peace amongst the aggrieved.
The President General promised that they would continually live in harmony after the peaceful resolution by Chief Uzor.
In another development, Chief Edwin Uzor frowned at the collection of ‘deve’ when he met with representatives of Odion Urhobo and Odion Itsekiri communities in Warri South Local Government Area of the state.
Uzor warned them to desist from the ‘deve’ approach, whereby from people renovating and maintaining their houses, adding that anyone caught in the act would face the full wrath of the law.
He said the act was not a healthy situation and a shameful one, hence they should stop it.
He said the Oborevwori’s administration hold a zero tolerance for such acts and it should be maintained.
