Delta State Governor and Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has described the demise of a onetime justice of the supreme Court, late Hon. Justice Samuel Oseji as a vacuum in the court.
Okowa who was represented by the chief Justice of the state, Justice Isaiah Bozimo made this known during the first memorial service of late Justice Oseji organized by the Oseji Foundation for Transparency and Community Development in Asaba.
He said though the light shines in the Supreme Court, it shined in the little less bright without Oseji.
On his part, the head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko commended the legacy of a the Oseji Foundation for Transparency and Community Development, adding that he would ensure that the legacy lives on.
The Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Justice Amina Augie (JSC) said late Oseji was so transparent in all he does, one hardworking justice, reliable and legal practitioner who was never found wanting in the line of duty.
In his exhortation on the topic, ‘a good name with the Lord’, Rev. Esosa Omoregie, admonished all not to allow their character spoil their name, adding that when they leave the earth their name remains.
While commending the son of the deceased, Mr Samuel Oseji (Jnr) for taking after his father’s foot print by caring for widows and vulnerable persons, Omoregie charged men to crave after fearing the Lord, by allowing their name bear their character.
On her part the wife of Late Oseji, Dr. Mrs Mininim Oseji said though it hurts loosing her husband to death, but her confidence for healing was in the Lord God.
Delivering a lecture on the topic “Transparency in governance: executive legislative and judicial perspectives”, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), has become an instrument to measure good governance which follows rules and ensures that the voices of the vulnerable are heard and the views of the minority attended to.
In his welcome address, Dr Nwanze Ezoem said the late Ezoem left a foot print worthy of emulation.
Presenting the book, ‘a dove on the bench’ Mr Chike Onyemenam (SAN), said Oseji could be described as a dove who was without any blemish, a good listener who never interjected and left his foot print in the indelible sands of time.
Speaking Onyemenam said in him was a judge who was incorruptible in the administration of justice.
Many who gave good will messages, described Justice Oseji as one man that was harmless to a fault, supportive and generous beyond imagination.
Highlight of the event were tributes in honour of Late Oseji, praise and worship session led by CLASFON Delta State branch and prayer for the country.
