Ramadan Reawakes Man faith In Allah- Sheik Ufuoma

Vice President of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affair and Delta State Chairman, Council for Islamic Affair, Sheik Yahaya Mohammed Ufuoma, has described Ramadan as the reawakening of one’s faith and purifying of their sins.

Sheik Ufuoma made this known while speaking with our correspondent in Asaba, the state capital.

He said it was a time when Muslim Faithful were brought to the consciousness of whom they were and understanding that there was no different between the poor and the rich.

The Cleric admonished them to live in love and unity irrespective of their class in the society, by giving alms to needy, knowing that it was God who gave them all they had.

He urged them to give back love haven been forgiven by Allah, it was ideal for them to also forgive those who had offended them.

Frowning at the plight of the people of Ukraine, he called on Muslim faithful to continually pray for peace and security in the country, adding that without peace and unity there would be no celebration.

While praying for those who had return back to their maker in death, he solicited for prayers for the late Secretary of the Council, Alhaji Musa Ugasa, who was assassinated by unknown gunmen.

 

ASUSS Chairman Harps On Commitment To Work

In raising generational leaders, the Delta State Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, (ASUSS), Comr. Kenneth Chukwudi Okoh, has charged workers in the state to show much more commitment dedication and tolerance to work.

Comr. Okoh gave the charge during the 2022 May Day celebration in Asaba, the State capital.

He said knowing that any error in raising generational leaders could lead to destruction of generations, hence they should put in more passion to their work.

The Chairman said while the error of other professionals could lead to destruction of single or one living issue theirs as academicians would be the reverse if not taken seriously.

While speaking on the need for synergy with the state government, he said there was no gainsaying that the state government had received so much collaboration from civil servants in the state, adding that workers in the state had help ensure the realization of good governance.

He commended the effort of the State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa for also ensuring that workers had good working environment and were paid promptly.

According to him, workers in the state had not had reasons to stage a protest,  because of the many benefit they get from the state government, adding that a government that listens to workers had no reason to fail in governance, because they already have the support of workers.

Expressing Confidence in the Okowa led administration, he said their challenges when presented before the governor had always been met.

DELTA 2023: Gbagi Assures Youth of Quality Representation

Governorship Aspirant, under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi,  has assured Deltans of his unalloying support towards youth development.

 

Olorogun Gbagi made known on Monday,  May 1, 2022, when he played host to beneficiaries of his Foundation who won scholarships to study at the school of Nursing Sapele and Asaba respectively, at Oginibo, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

 

He promised to bring the dividend of democracy to the youths, by ensuring that they were given opportunities to excel in their endeavours.

 

While soliciting for their support to occupy the governorship position in the state, he said it would avail him the chance to change the fortunes of the citizens.

 

The Gubernatorial aspirant vowed to continue in his philanthropic gesture and to do more than ever before in ensuring that youths in the state were taken out of the street, get employed and given a voice.

 

He disclosed that giving them the scholarship, would give him the opportunity to interact with enlightened youths when he assumes office as governor.

 

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mrs. Lawson Orobosa Promise, assured the governorship Aspirant of their support, owing to his leadership disposition of putting smiles on the faces of youths in the state.

 

She added that Olorogun Gbagi had shown his love for the teeming youths in the state, by positioning them.

2022 UTME: JAMB Releases Detailed List Of Forbidden Items In Exam Halls

Candidates sitting for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have been advised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to begin the printing of their slips.

This was made known in a statement released in Abuja by the head of public affairs and protocol, Fabian Benjamin.

It stated that the printing of the slip is for candidates who have registered for the examination which will span from Friday, May 6 through May 14, 2022.

The Board listed items forbidden in examination halls as Flash drives, Smartwatches, Calculators, Recorders, Mobile phones, Spy reading glasses, Jewelry, Pen Cameras, Recorders, USBs Earpieces, Erasers, Money Hoodies Blue tooth devices, Face towels and Smart buttons

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Bennet Agamah has assured Veterinarians of government’s preparedness to partner with the body in the promotion of veterinary services in the state.

Agamah gave the assurance while playing host to a delegation of Veterinarians led by the national president of the Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Dr. Mrs Olutoyin Adetuberu, at his office in Asaba.

He reeled out government’s activities in order to ensure that all facets of agriculture receives the needed boost and pride of place in the economy of the state.

The Permanent Secretary reassured them that the administration of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, would not rest on it’s oars in the pursuit of its Stronger Delta agenda of making Delta State a major food and livestock producer in the country.

Speaking the national President said the visit was to intimate the government on the needs of the health Officers in the state.

She said despite the importance of the field in the society, it was one which was highly neglected.

While calling for more manpower in the discharge of duties, Adetuberu decried the lack of manpower in the profession especially in government offices.

She said there was need proper tools and support to maintain their personal health and wellness in the discharge of their daily activities.

On his part, the state Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Charles Diai said that in ensuring professionalism and regulation of the practice and the standard of operating in the state. The new Committee on Private Premise s Veterinary Regulations n would also help checkmate quakery in the profession.

No Party Primaries Until ASUU Strike Ends, NANS Warns FG.

The National
Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has vowed that there would be no Presidential primaries in Abuja until the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), resolves their differences and call off the strike action.

This was made known in a statement issued by the NANS President, Sunday Asefon.

It stated that ASUU had been on strike since February 14 due to several unresolved issues, one of which was the union’s insistence on making use of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) as a preferred payment option, instead of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

Amid the strike action, the Minister of
Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, and Minister of state for education,
Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, have declared their interest to contest the 2023 Presidential election.

Egwunyenga Solicit For More Funding of DELSU

Vice Chancellor, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, has solicited for additional allocation of funds to the institution from the state government.

Professor Egwunyenga made the appeal during the 14th Convocation ceremony of the university, in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area.

He said the university as a cost intensive project, needed more funds to execute some of the project in the institution.

According to the VC, the school facilities needed expansions and upgrading, hence the need for the demand, adding that it would go a long way in repositioning the university in achieving its vision and
mission”.

While highlighting some of the needs of the institution, he said there was need to engage more academic staff, provision of power and energy infrastructures to enable DELSU maximize the infinite opportunities inherent in ICT.

He said despite the state government commendable efforts, there were ongoing projects that still required the attention of the government, such as the administrative building, the abandoned Sports Complex and the Faculty of Science Complex.

He added that the university was in dire need of more accommodation for students and staff, construction of new halls of residence for students and blocks of flats for staff going by the movement of the Faculties of Agriculture and Management Sciences to Abraka.

… As Leader calls for revival towards exploits

The International Prelate and visionary leader of Female Archbishops, Bishops and Clergy worldwide Association, (FABCWA), Cardinal Prof. Mrs Chioma Ononiwu (JP) has called for a great revival of towards greater exploit.

Cardinal Ononiwu gave the call during the 2022 International world conference, ordination, consecration, enthronement and awards with the theme ‘positioning for greater exploits’ at the House of Freedom, Landmark Cathedral in Asaba, Delta State.

She said, with the many wrong happenings in the name of Christianity, it was time they draw close to God.

Frowning at the misinterpretation of the word of God by some Clergies, she said so many persons were practicing things far from what the bible spelt out, adding that it was so sad that nations were doing all they could to stop the growth and spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Leader of the Association said that the Church of Jesus was not a manmade institution, hence they must arise to encourage themselves to be strong in the Lord by allowing God have his way in their lives and to be revived as it was in the days of Pentecost.

She charged the Clergies to be equipped with faith to run their ministries, churches and families.

On his part the international Prelate of Word Based, Barr. Solomon Akhigbe advised participants to be careful of persons who lay hands on them.

He said that in other for them to fulfill their calling they should be mindful as there were lot of contaminated persons who claims to be Ministers everywhere.

Speaking, the Host, Bishop Derby Nuel charged them to love God so as to be able to do exploit in life.

Bishop Derby said without intimacy with God it would be difficult for them to attain heights in their calling, hence they should serve God with all sincerity of heart.

Labour Day Event Is Opportunity For Workers To Celebrate Themselves – Ofobruku

The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Delta State Council, Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku has said that the May Day Celebration is an opportunity for workers to celebrate themselves, adding that workers in the State should come out enmasse to showcase their strength on Sunday or Monday depending on the sighting of the moon to avoid clash with the Sallah celebration.

He made this statement during the State Executive Council meeting on Friday, 29th April, 2022, at the Labour House while briefing members of SEC who are SAC members and Chairmen and Secretaries of affiliate unions.

Ofobruku insisted that it is the responsibility of affiliate unions to mobilize their members, maintaining that Labour Day is an annual event which workers are expected to look forward to in order to showcase their strength, their resilience and their capacity as Nigerian workers.

The Chairman used the medium to eulogize the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa whom he described as workers friendly and listening Governor.

Mr. Ofobruku posited that in some States, Governors do not identify with Labour activities, thereby appreciating Okowa for always encouraging and supporting workers in every of their mandate events.

The eloquent Chairman also used the opportunity to caution affiliate unions to stop holding delegate conferences without inviting the NLC as parent body to give goodwill messages or supervise their elections.

He therefore notified the SEC-in-Session of the National Executive Council’s decision to get Labour involved in politics in the interest of workers and the development of Nigerian economy.

On the strength of the above, he informed SEC that the Union had introduced political committees into its organs of operation, and on the basis of this, two members from Delta State Council – Comrades (Chief) Victor Uchuno and Fidel Emeni had been appointed respectively as Chairman and Secretary of the Political Committee for Delta State Council. Their role is to galvanise and coordinate workers to advance their supports to credible and sincere politicians ready to pursue the yearnings and aspirations of workers in line with mustering the political will to take Nigeria out of the woods.
